Lightbulb just wondering about the blue light

Sorry if this is a dumb post.
Can anyone explain the blue light that illuminates the tach when you insert the key?

Does not seem to be of any value, too dim to use and it goes off quickly.
but, it killing me trying to figure out it's purpose.

what's so confusing about the blue light?... it's just a bunch of bright black light type LED's in the dash... press the "i believe" button and accept that they are there, even if it's just for show

If you dim your tach meter halfway (just before it clicks in the middle), you will see that during nighttime you have an instrument panel with red lights and a blue background light. Maybe you have not done so and are using only the bright white light background, it's soo cool.

thanks for the info ayap888, just went outside to the car and we now see the purpose of the light.
we knew about the white to red dial face , but did not know that the blue light was the
main reason the dials turn red. We always noticed the blue light when we entered the car and it went out when we turned the key. della, my sig other says the blue light is cool!
thanks again, all

Is there a way to deactivate, remove or cover the blue LED's leaving only the stealthy good looks of the back-lit red display?

Nothing wrong with having a personal preference. Some do a lot "worse" to their cars. I've thought about getting rid of the blue LED glow in the guages to keep a nice black background.

But then again, I'm an OCD guy, too.

Aren't most of the blue lights inside little ports that shine onto the instrument cluster? You could just tape them over.
