Just read the 09 RX-8 spec in Road & Track? The car will get some exterior upgrades, wider flared fenders, better brakes and upgraded suspension, larger 19" wheels, lower transmisson gearing to aid in low rpm performance and the same 237 hp/ 185 wph.

Don't you wished they'd upgrade the hp of the engine by at least 13 more horses say to 250hp engine. And just a little bit more exterior re-design for 2009, 5 years of nearly no change.

Same complaint for Honda 2000.

Been discussed before. I personally think they messed up with the exterior design... dont want to see what they'd do if they were to change it more. As for the HP... it's not like they just input the number and that's how much hp it produces. While it is possible to get a little more hp out of the 8 without going FI, it's not just going to be a new exhaust and intake that does it. If they're going to boost the hp at all, it should at least be a more significant amount than that. While it is a noticeable difference, I dont think it would be enough to satisfy people (as far as a change). Just wait till the 16x comes out. You'll get your hp.

This subject has been beat to death, revived, and then beat some more. There is a bigger rotary in development which will probably be the only chance of a power increase from the factory. The exterior design has aged well and it looks like they just changed a bunch of **** on the '09 just to change. It's too costly to fully redesign a low volume/niche car every 4 or 5 years so look for significant changes a little further down the road.

I agree. I think it has timeless styling to begin with.

I like that it hasn't changed for that reason, too. Kinda like old VW Beetles...

I agree with u JRitcher........she jst has that look that will not only draw u in but make u stare for hours. And personally I think the new re-design of the 09, as modest as it is, sux!! Makes me want to ask Mazda, "if it wasn't broke, then why'd u screw it up?"

Yeah I gotta agree. Find another $30K car that can draw the rapt attention that my 8 does, and still kicks major *** on the highway. Can't be found!

Yeah I'll be first in line for that. I only hope they give more color choices that they did for the MS3.

to me, 19 inch wheels = death in NYC.

Why ? Cuz all the potholes here ... it killed 2 of my 18" already. instant death.

one of the thing I like about the R3 trim is the dash board, can I replace my dash with it?

I think in the future this '09 model will come to be known as gen 1.5 of the rx8's, with the new 16x version being 2.0.
