just installed the winter tires last night... and a silly question!

Hi guys
I mounted my winter tires by myself last night. My winter tires don't have TPMS(?). I heard that if the tires are not equipped with the TPMS, the tire pressure warning signs are supposed to be on. Right?
But I don't see the sign on my dash board -_-; Is this normal?

Are the summer tires/rims sitting right next to the car? Have you actually driven with the winter tires on yet?

yeah if you are in the garage still with them nearby it won't b on but if you have driven it should come on however i do know that some ppl have also not gotten the light but that might mean you have a problem receiving the signal from the sensors

Yeah, mine too. Swapped with a new set of tires without pressure sensor, after driving for a few days, the pressure light wasn't on once.

I was confused about this, too. Anyone has some answers please?

Thanks!

It's not getting a "low pressure" signal, in fact it's getting no signal at all. So, it might take a few days / drive cycles for the warning light to come on, because usually car seems to be programmed to be cautious about these sorts of things. This is the case with a lot of strange-but-not-emergency type of warning lights, such as the gas-cap-is-leaking error code, for example.

msharp - about how many drive cycles has it been?

takes time or rotation, not sure which... 15-20 mins maybe?
if you're not traveling far, it'll never come on

Um, it's been a week... and I almost drive at least an hour a day. Definitely far away from my garage. :D

after about 2 weeks it will eventually itll start coming on about 15 minutes or more into a drive. After a month or 2 it will just be permanently on. After 3 months, your brain just blocks it out completely.

The TPMS is a bit weird that way... I had some replacement rims put on and they forgot to install the TPMS and I drove for a while without knowing it until the light came on and started to blink. It would come on after 10ish minutes after that whenever I drove. It didn't happen right away though, so god only knows what makes the car realize it doesn't have the signal.

I doubt that if he dismounted and mounted the tires onto rims by himself, but it is a good question.

Assuming that you have wheels without TPMS as you say, then yes, you should have a blinking yellow light. It usually takes about fifteen minutes to a half hour of driving for my warning light to start blinking. There is no chime with the failure light, it just starts blinking after a little while. I would take it to the dealer and ask what gives. Parking near the summer wheels, will allow the unit to read those wheels and think that they are on the car.
