Just Drove One Today!!!!

SWWEEEETTTTT!!!! it was just another boring day, although nice here in Irvine Cali... i was dropping off my girlfriend after we ate lunch at round table pizza off of jamboree, and when i drove up to the circle driveway to drop her off, guess what i saw... a red black leather RX-8 GT just parked there with the doors open.. there were some mazda dudes doing the RX live thing, promoing the car... i immediately got out of my crappy car, and went to talk to them... looked inside, sat inside and played with the stick a little bit.. THe dude got in the passenger side and said "do you want to take it for a spin".. . i looked at the guy with a stupid smile and replied "what the *** you think??" in so many words... so i got to drive the rx-8 around the block, birch, to macarthur, to campus, von karman, and back to the driveway.. iT WAS SWWEEEETTTT.... very nice surprise... drove like a dream... i was debating and considering the g35c, but after this drive, i am sold

Now, talk about a surprise. I would love to be surprised like that!

So, what impressed you about the RX-8? Looks, feel, drive, etc.

Anything after seeing & driving it, you didn't like?

it looks great in person AND in normal daytime light... the red was a little duller than i would have liked, but i am not into red anyway... i am always biased to the ferrari red... but the car overall, looked awesome in person... better than what i remember from the LA auto show... it handled like a DREAM!!! IMO, there was no torque problem.. the engine was really quiet, like honda accord quiet... but i got ot rev it to 7K on 2nd, and it was NICE!!!! good room, great interiors.... i drove the 330c, g35c, audi 3.0, and none can really compare in overall satisfaction which includes price... i thought it handled just as good as the 330c...

no doubt it was a nice surprise!!! the guy doing the main driving said he has been killing the car, revving it high, and pushing it to the limits, and he said no ill effects "yet" lol... but it was a blast to drive, and cant wait to be able to drive one everyday...

as for a comparo... i have driven 330c, g35c, s2000, and audi 3.0... the only car i have not driven that i still want to is the 350z... but after driving the 8, albeit briefly, i am not considering any other cars... now its down to, "do i want that cd changer"?? lol

To think that I'd use to drive around that area all th time when I use to live in Laguna Hills ... you lucky dog!

:p

Hey, did you notice if the instrument dash was attached to the ajustable steering wheel column like the G35 coupe is? I personally like that feature (my old 1990 probe had it).

Northeast sucks too

And we have New York City nearby too and nothing good automotive wise comes thru here cept the auto show... which is nice but I'm almost guaranteed not to be able to touch and feel the RX-8

Lucky, lucky, lucky!!!
Need I say more. I'm pleasantly surprised that you were not dissappointed with the RX-8's torque delivery. Also glad that you rated the interior so high. Also the engine nice and quiet . . . Also, Also, Also so why can't I drive it too???

Words aint enough!!

WHA WHA WHAT!!!!

I used to work right there on Birch, I ate at that Roundtable like once a week.... the biggest thrill I ever got was seeing some prototype Hyundai SUV driving around on Jamboree... I move away for school and they are bringing RX-8's... ok i'm not sleeping tonight I'm going to sit here and fume about going back to school and not staying at that job so I wouldn't of missed the 8.....

I'm still in shock.....

See now that's a great testamony. This lucky dog over here drove all those very worthy competitors and took him less than 10 seconds in the RX-8 to declare it as the winner. Once again prove to us that you can analysis as much as you want on paper but there is just no subsitution for the true driving experience.

smoker.. no doubt... you can compare stats and stuff all people want, but when a buyer is interested in the total package, looks, feel, performance, etc etc, there is no subsitute for actually driving it... like i said, if i compiled a list, i would have the rx-8 at the top, but some of the other cars close behind as well... after driving it, the list only has the rx-8... YOU ALL WILL SOON SEE !!!
