Just drove home my second RX-8
First one was destroyed in a flood a couple of weeks ago. I ended up going back to the same dealer to get my second one because I liked them so much (Autobarn Mazda Countryside, always a pleasure to deal with them)
I just drove home in a '06 AT Sport Package Veclocity Red. I was surprised at the difference in power you get with the upgraded transmission and horsepower in the '06 over my old '04. It really gave it an extra kick that was great to feel!
I had them replace the shift **** with one from a used '05 they had on the lot because I didn't like the metal accent on it (I have no idea why they changed that in the first place).
I also had them change the wheels that were on there because they had the Potenzas on them and my old one had Dunlops. I didn't realize how bad the Potenzas were before I test drove it with those on there. The Dunlops are so much nicer.
Well, now I just have to remember to go easy on it during the break in period, that's gonna be a hard one

Thats awesome to hear man, I was up at Autobarn in Evanston and I was thinking of going to Countryside. How much did you pay for it all together with taxes and stuff. Nice to see you like it.

With S-Plan pricing, I got it for 27318.88 after all taxes, fees and whatnot. It was the base model + sport package + 6 cd changer.
are you looking for an AT or an MT? If you like AT and leather, they have a VERY nice one on the lot you should check out. The only reason I didn't buy that one was because I hate leather.
Kris is the guy I bought both of my cars from. He was always great to deal with
Edit:
forgot to mention that the AT with leather was a used one with only 1000 miles on it. almost fully loaded.

S-Plan price is 24458+1721+400+560 = 27139 for the packages+transport fee
-2500 for the incentives + MAC financing = 24639
Then taxes and a whole crapload of other fees puts the price right back up there.
Is there something I'm missing?

Just don't do that guys, he already has a bad one in his first 8 and now the price for the second. Give the dealer a break too, ppl need to make money. Just ask for some goodies.

Put 2000 down.
More info, the tax is calculated before taking off the incentives and rebates. so actual price is
(27139*1.07) - 2500 = 26538
Fees were 177 bringing the total to 26715
There were two extra fees that went along with the S-plan. One was Chicago specific and I forget the other, but together, the cost around $400-500. Adding those back in to the original total, then applying taxes brings the total up to what I paid.
So was I not supposed to be charged those extra fees? With those numbers and the price sheet for the s-plan in front of me, I don't see how I could have gotten a GT easily for that price.
Anyone know anything that could help?

should be able to get it for 500-1000+ under invoice, especially when they are trying to clear out inventory of the previous model year. if you were able to get it for at least 500 under invoice then its probably not a bad price, false alarm. it gets a lot more complicated with that big rebate though. you should be able to go lower than 1000+ under invoice under optimal conditions.

please let me add that i really dont intend to make you get buyers remorse. you should judge if its a good deal by how much under invoice.

My understanding is that S-plan price is invoice, and there's no leeway. Just invoice less incentives.
There are restrictions on what fees can be added.
I'm not expert in this, but I got S-plan for my 8 via my brother, who works for Ford. He told me that the dealer had to go strictly by the S-plan sheet, would apply incentives, and could add the paperwork rip-off fee, but could not add or subtract anything else.
Zofran - one thing you might do is check on whether those extra fees were legit. Whoever issued the PIN should be able to tell you.
