Haha all you guys are nuts. Mac's are for people who wanna be different but still have a really easy interface. Windozze is for people who have just learnt to use a computer and have probably never used anything else.

Linux is where its at. OS X is just a FREEBSD system (UNIX based) running a glorified windows manager and now even Windozze is moving towards Unix. After 10 years of using Unix, finally redemption!! I can do ANYTHING a mac/windozze can do just as efficiently, fast and have all the eye candy I want for FREE!! Beat that.

Everyone is gonna start using some form of the oldest OS in the world eventually.

Feels nice to have stuck with a winner all these years.

And oh yeah nice car.

Here we go!

Yeah, and welcome to the group! If unique is what you seek ...

Lost count of how many Macs I have around. They just don't wear out! Keep passing them down to others. Have the newest to the oldest - the original 1984 Mac that still works.

Have had three rotary Mazdas, all the way back to 1973. Don't keep the old ones in the closet though. Missed a bunch of years in between. Always wanted a 3rd generation RX- 7 but it was not in the cards.

25,200 with taxes and tags? Or just the car and dealer fees?

Thanks all...

BTW, $25,200 is the OUT THE DOOR price...

That's after taxes and every other mindless fees that they add...

I couldn't believe it myself...

I wasn't planning to buy a car this weekend...

BUT, I had money saved up for six years, my old ride had 150,000 miles, and they (multiple dealers) offered a price I couldn't refuse...

Wow, that's a great price for out the door. What's the sales tax rate (if any) in your state?? I just got my Titanium/Sport last week (Dec. 30), $25,000 net but have to add California sales tax and title costs. Also, while the price did include the $1000 from MAC, I did not know about nor was offered the $1500 rebate you received!
Is the $1500 a January-only incentive? Dealer-to-customer, or Mazda-to-customer?

My sales tax is 6.5%...

I got quotes from all the dealers in my area (Ohio) via Edmunds.com...

The next day I must have made 30 phone calls juggling a huge bidding war between three dealers in my area...

The reason I got such a good deal (I think) is because in my area there is a huge inventory of '05s and the demand is low for sport cars in general where I live... Most people buy pickup trucks, SUVs, minivans, and plain sedan here where I live in the midwest... I haven't seen an RX8 on the road in the last two weeks of driving (and I've been looking)...

In California however, I suspect that the situation is different... California definitely has a "car culture"... You probably got a good deal for your area...

Also, I'm not sure when the $1500 rebate kicked in... It must have been dealer to customer since the credit was on the final invoice...

BTW, the Mazdausa.com website was a great resource to check dealer inventory...

1500 was the dealer cash. Its not a rebate. Some dealers may choose to pass it on. Others wont. It depends on the place you live in and the knowledge you have. If you dodnt know about the dealer cash, you probably wont get any. All boils down to the kind of research you do before buying something like a car.

first off, CONGRATS on joining the rx-8 club!

now, w/ regards to macs... apple's products are hardly superior in features, price, or performance. but, they REALLY are irresistably cool, elegant, unique, and above-all easy-to-use...

many publications have benchmarked apple's products as slower than their pc counterparts, just like many publications have said the 8 isn't the fastest car in it's class. yet, apple continues to win design awards year-after-year, just as the rx-8 has been on car & drivers ten best 3 years in a row... suprising? not really...

it just goes to show that sometimes the products that have less mass-market appeal are exactly the ones that have something unique & cool about them- something that only a small percentage of the population actually appreciate and pick-up on.

and, that is what makes them so refreshingly GREAT!

Whoo! Macs!

Ok... At home, I have a Dual 2.7 PowerMac G5 with a 23" Cinema display and a 15" PowerBook 1.67. At work (which I own, so it's sorta mine) I use a Dual 2.0 PowerMac with a 23" Cinema display. I'm looking for a new monitor for work so I can have dual 23" displays at home!

I also have an old white iBook G3 somewhere, and my G4 cube belongs to my friend now. Oh, and let's not forget the Single 1.8 PowerMac G5 in my cupboard that works as my home server!

But, by far the coolest Mac thing I've done is my Mac mini. It's been in my previous car and it was awesome:

Should I work on putting it in my RX-8? I have the nav, so the screen would be easy - just need one of those switcher box things.

Edit: Oh yeah, and congrats on your new '8!

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the club Exegeses!

iKenndac, I think you should put a Mac Mini in your 8. That would be awesome!!
