Just Bought a 2010 Grand Touring
I've been lurking forever, and now I'm a proud owner.
I'm still in the break-in period (still on the Dealer's gas) so I haven't had the full experience I understand the RX-8 can bring.
Anyway, reviewing all the new owner threads. One question, do I really have to idle until the first rev-limit bar goes away? I'll do what ever it takes to make my RX-8 last.
I live in Maryland so I'm looking at snow tires as well.
My previous car was a 1995 Miata that had for 15 years and 199,999 miles. I used to autocross and track-day that car, so I look forward to doing the same with my new Velocity Red Mica.
Hi All!

That said, if it was my new 2010 Grand Touring, I'd wait for the first rev-limit bar to go away. But I'm **** that way.

another new owner here too
Sean, Almost sounds like I wrote that first post. I too have been lurking forever (member since June '04!), and now I'm a proud owner. Picked up a 2010 Sparkling Black Mica Sport on Nov. 4th. Deal was too good to pass up.
My previous car was a 1996 Miata that had for 11 years and 160,000 miles. And I used to autocross that car, so I look forward to doing the same with my new 8.
It was hard to say bye to the miata.....she was an awesome car. No troubles at all.
I really wanted a GT...but this was the last 2010 on the lot and like I said, great deal.

Funny I posted one after the Flux Capacitor joker.
I'll tell ya what I've come up with since getting my S2 a year and 2 months ago. Now at 13,200 miles.
-As for warming up. I got my car Oct'09 and I did the warm up til one bar went away for most of the winter following the purchase. But over the summer I just let it run for like 2 minutes then got going.
-Regardless of the season though I always take it easy...nothing over 3k rpm till its all warmed up. I also did one bottle of premix shortly after buying it, but have never did it since.
-I always use premium gas and change the oil every 3k miles.
-My mileage was the worst the first few thousand miles. It has gotten better and better...kinda leveled off at 19.2mpg now, up from 17 when I got it. (I've logged every fill up since I got it in a Excel spreadsheet w/mpg). I'd post the graph but its on my other computer. I can get 20mpg under the right conditions.
No problems with the car at all. Not a single recall even. I suggest getting the 3rd brake light LED conversion. Theres a thread about it on here ($32 shipped) The factory incandescent light looks so stupid when you hit the brakes with the big ring LEDs then the delayed middle light.
Next thing I want to do is get the remote programmed so when I walk away it automatically locks the car. Which I learned when reading the owner's manual.
