Just about to buy an RX-8
Hi, my name is Ollie. I have just joined, and have just put a deposit on a 3.5 year old 231 PS RX-8. Few things I noticed. It has a K&N Filter firstly. Thats the only mod. When i turn the key to start the engine it takes 2 secs to start. Is that normal? Also I dont think I heard the beeping when reaching the high revs?
Can anyone help?
Thanks

So you dont think there is a problem? Is this common/normal for the early models. Do you think it will cause me problems in the future, or am I fine not replacing starter kit - i.e. its not necessary to change, only for preference.
Thanks

The engine sometimes takes a couple of seconds of cranking because of the anti-flooding code in the ECU. I've driven through two winters with my 2004.
The beep at high RPM is what we all live for! It isn't very loud but it should start at about 8500
What is the build date for your car?

Turn the radio off, and rev up to redline. You should hear the beep once it hits that redline. If you don't, take it to your local mazda dealership. They can fix it for you.

If the beep does not work, its probably just a little fault somewhere? Or do you reckon it indicates a large crash or something - or am I being paranoid?
Thanks

Also, at what revs does the limiter cut in. I think it cut in at about 9600-9700 in the test drive. I have read somewhere it is 9300rpm though?
Thanks again for any help. Much appreciated
