johns first engine replacement T_T

So I went to have a compression test done, car feels mostly fine pulls jsut as hard as i think it always does oil changed every 3k miles using 10w40 and premixed
i go in say it feels like it lost power just so i can make sure its good and strong...it failed

car is less then a year old but has 30k miles, red lined very frequently. transmission was rebuilt for a dead 5th gear syncro a few months ago.

o well its warranty work. Car is still NA and not turboed yet.

end of rant

That sucks man. Hope they don't beat up your engine bay too much. Which dealership is doing the work? Mazda South? Beasley? Premiere?

I know bro!!! mines in for compression test as well.. i am re considering installing my turbo kit on the new motor... if indeed it fails.. i have 57,760 miles roughly.. but no power down low.. after long period of driving i get a tick tick tick sound kinda like a valve shuttering..

good luck john! get the FD!

Just get a really good tune. You will be fine. Nothing is as reliable as an NA, but a good tune can help.

Dang man, that's too bad.. So, you just went to the dealer 'just to make sure' and came out with a failed compression? You weren't experiencing any issues or anything that prompted you to do this, right? So, what does this really mean if the car is running fine??

the car was having floods on start up which i asumed was weak spark as it would start up after just fine (why i just replaced the plugs)

car had no symptoms, besides being rather weak at the low end side

i had though it was not as powerful as when i first got it one day but i just assumed it was in my head as it pulled fine.

ahh, gotcha..so, what year can one 'realistically' assume Mazda has got the engine thing corrected?? Never? I had thought '07's and 08's would be fine. Are 09's having (rather will they) the same problem?

Yeah, there are always the few out there that die due to not 100% good parts. Too bad, though. At least it's a brand new engine! :D

That sucks. I wonder how many out there seem to be running okay but are just on borrowed time?

Mine was running okay but I noticed some things which led me to the dealer. but I am very attune to my car and most drivers are not.

Hey man, make sure you take this poll.

so they gave me the car back while they order the engine (since it works fine)

i now have a rattle in the rear of my car ...wtf, reading the paper work they got a cat converter showing up in the ecu... wonder if that rattling is what was my cat converter...

From the sheet:

vac numbers are
baro 3.92v idle 1.98 v ... no idea of conversion here

"compression test shows low compression"
"test drive mode 6 showed a few misfires ... perform decarb...still shows missfires"

so new engine in a few days...
