I've been keyed...

Well, I knew I shouldn't have parked so close to other cars. I've taken every precaution!!! Even parking all the way in the back of the lot to avoid teenagers or ex friends to damage my ride. I work at a ski hill in Chicago, where I used to race and all that other stuff. There were quite a few ex friends that hate me for unknown reasons.. Probably rumors or whatnot. I go to the ski hill the next day around and park there, I was there working the day before teaching kids how to ski. Sadly the salt from the road along with snow can cover the car and hide key marks. I come out of the drivers door and I was shocked to what I found. I found numerous DEEP & LONG keymarks in several areas of my car. I go inside raging and I see several of my Ex team members & friends whispering and laughing at me... I don't want to call my insurance company because I'm already paying $380.00 a month and I don't want my premium to jump up EVER MORE. Damn I hate being a teenager.. Anyone know a cheap place in chicago to repair long & deep key marks? -_-

Thanks,

- iSki123

Wet sand and buff, depending if they are through the clear coat and into your top coat not much you can do but get it repainted. You can try touch up paint but it never really comes out like it should and depending on how many scratches and marks it could end up just making it more noticeable

$380 a month? what's wrong with people. you could get a ticket a month for no insurance or pay someone's hospital bill or buy a new car in a few years off what you're paying for insurance alone..

Is your car payment even that high? If I were you, I would get a police report and contact insurance... Much cheaper than buying a new paint job.

Take the $380 and buy a bat. Take it to their laughing faces and then to their windshields, lights, and bodywork.

I paid for my car in full with cash, I've never been in any accidents, I've never gotten a ticket. I have the CLEANEST record ever. Hell, I even have a good credit score. -_-

State Farm. They're expensive. That's part of your problem (and being a teenager). Your parent's insurance is not good for you (as the maxim goes). If you claim it, then there's still your deductible. If there were a lot of key lines, then it was purposefully aimed at you. Tough break and hope you find a cheaper fix.

Did you follow peoples advice and look somewhere else for insurance or report what your agent told you about not being able to switch? You really should check many other places because state farm can be expensive compared to others, and it seems like your agent is trying to keep you by any means necessary.

Sorry on what happened, but anyway, call some body shops nearby and ask for estimates. On the insurance your paying, I think it depends what you got from your insurance company and it depends where you live at.

I am 21 and my insurance to have my rx8 on the road in the summer (full coverage) and sunfire in storage (fire, theft) is like $230.

For the winter when I drive the sunfire (liability only), and rx8 in storage (fire, theft) my insurance is $180.

I have one ticket (15km over or something) and an otherwise clean record, no claims or anything. The insurance company I am with is the cheapest in Ontario for young(er) drivers.

Wtf is it under your name? I'm 20 and it's like 450ish a month for me, no tickets.

23 and €120 every 3 months. Still covered under my old man's policy, though, but I'll be taking over almost all discounts next year.

For your problem - I'm pretty sure there are enough rumours about who did it, just ask the right people. Nobody does this **** to not brag about it to his retarded friends afterwards.

Then there are "out of court" ways to settle.

Laying hand on a man's beloved car is almost as bad as laying hand on his girlfriend/wife in my books.

I just got my insurance dropped to under $100 per month... I have Geico. Parents have good policy apparently. It dropped when I moved to UT. Gonna stay on it as long as I can. You should look into new insurance companies.

My wife and I switched to Geico a little while back. Cut our payments by 50%. I hear many people experience major discounts through them. I made sure to check peoples reviews before switching and everyone had great comments about dealing with the company. Bless that little gecko's heart 8>)

Oh BS.
If people hate you, and you're a young teenager, then you KNOW the reasons why they hate you. I'm going to guess it has something to do with the amount of money you have access to, the fact that you bought an expensive car with cash, normal teenage jealously, and finally, look at what you have written under your screen name on this forum.

I bet you behave in such a way, that it triggers those people out there who feel the need to bring people like you down to everyone elses level every chance they get.

I'm also going to quote what I wrote to you in the insurance thread, because you didn't do a thing about it last time. Maybe this time you will call up other insurance agents, and actually get some quotes this time. When you cancel your insurance, you are required by law to get the unused money back. The sooner you do this, the more money you get back.

Stop stalling, and get some insurance quotes.

I know that State Farm is a good insurance company, but you are being taken advantage of in a big way by whomever wrote you that policy. Normally I wouldn't ask this, but are you required to bring your monthly payments into the office to apply them, or are you mailing your payments to the main State Farm processing center?

If I were you, I would first call State Farm, and get a quote over the phone from them about how much you should really be paying. Yes, it will be high, but what you quoted sounds ridiculous. Then, after you get that quote, start calling Progressive, Geico, Liberty Mutual, 21st Century, Farmers (ick), American Family, Dairyland, and whomever else you can think of, and get a better price quote.

There is no hit on your credit for shopping insurance. You can make insurance inquiries 10 times a day for 3 months, and not a single point will drop off your credit score.

And there never has been a fee for cancelling an insurance policy.
This isn't a long term cellphone or cable contract.

Good luck.

In fact, I think you should post the name of your State Farm agent.
They took advantage of you because you're young, and loaded with free cash.

BC.

$224.00 month, full coverage for my RX-8 and my wife's Tribute, both 2008 via progressive. One speeding ticket in a speed trap in South Carolina. Car's rear bumper replaced when an idiot at a light forgot where his brake pedal was. Been with Progressive through the times I had with my 2004 RX-8 when it caught on fire under the car and was a write off. Paid me very well for 2004.

Also, here in Colorado, our Insurance Regulation offers a great tool on their website that allows a Colorado resident to easily compare the base rates of most insurance companies that are licensed in Colorado all at the same time.

Insurance Premiums

You should look at your state's insurance regulatory website to see if they have a similar tool available.

homeowner's policies impact insurance quite a bit if you have your home and auto on the same policy. we pay about $30 a month for the RX8 for liability only and about $100 per month for all 3 of our cars (BMW E36, RX7 TII and '04 RX8). hell, the house payment is about $580...

Firstly, I make my own money through a job I have. This isn't my parents money, it's the money I make from a good job. Secondly, kids will be kids. Jealousy is a big factor in life, just because I have a decent car doesn't justify I'm loaded with money or rich as heck. Thirdly, this is an internet forum. My user title is just for laughs, I'm a hard core skier. That's partially the reason why is says what it says. I agree, you don't see a lot of peers my age driving 8's. But that doesn't mean they have a right to retaliate just because I own a half way decent vehicle. I guess I could say that people get a little mad when they see a teenager driving a sports car when we're in economic decline..

About your statement regarding what you wrote in the insurance thread, I'm utterly afraid to switch. This insurance agent has got my by my *****. When I told him my monthly income he though I was joking, maybe that's why he's taking advantage by upping my insurance prices a hell ton. I'm most likely going to call Geico later tonight to see what they can do for me.

Sorry for ranting, I have a lot of things on my mind lately. Including college. I'm not pointing fingers or trying to sound like a cocky douche bag. Because I have my own money issues too...

No insurance agent has you by the *****, it is actually the other way around since you have a choice of what company you want to use. He may have made you believe that there are no other options but that is not the case.

I'm not sure how state farm pays its agents but many insurance companies(life or car) pay commission to their agents. If he is getting commission off of you then obviously he is going to try and keep you at that price and tell you anything to make you stay. You really should report him to whatever agency regulates it. A quick google search found http://www.naic.org/state_web_map.htm but I didn't read the website, just saw it deals with insurance and reporting agents.

Notice that I never said it was your parent's money.
I said that it's the money that you have access to.
Kids don't care where someone else gets money from, they just see that you have way more than they have, and that makes them feel bad about themselves and their circumstances.

Think about what all you just said there.
People get jealous when they see a teenager (you in this case) driving a nice car.
You take the fact that these people are teenagers, and their ability to reason things through properly isn't going to be fully developed for quite a few more years, and you get a fucked up car, the first opportunity that they can get away with it.

Call them all.
Go online, fill in your information on Progressive, Allstate, etc, etc, and get those quotes. Most of them should be lower.

Sorry for ranting, I have a lot of things on my mind lately. Including college. I'm not pointing fingers or trying to sound like a cocky douche bag. Because I have my own money issues too...

Everyone goes through stress in life.
Young, old, just starting out, almost retired.
Everyone.

Just work on the things you can, and tolerate the things you can't for as long as you need to.

Once you get other quotes, your new agent will be more than happy to tell your current State Farm agent to bugger off. And the very best part:

If your State Farm agent tries any funny business, here's the link to report him:

https://insurance.illinois.gov/appli...ms/FormPC.aspx

Fill that document out, and the Illinois State Insurance Regulators will wipe the floor clean of your agent.

BC.
