Intake

Hey Guys,
I am deciding to get an intake for my 04 AT rx8 and I am not sure on which one to get. Which is better for an rx8, cold air or short ram?? Name the pros and cons of each and which brands are good. I am looking at k and n typhoon now. Thanks

K&N typhoon = hot air intake = loss of power

best intake for this car is AEM/Mazdaspeed, Racing Beat w/ duct, or stock

Stock airbox with Racing Beat Ram air
VFAD is over complicated and not worth replacing if it breaks

all intakes are little more then noise makers. I have one because I liked the sound. You will see no appreciable gains from an intake.

I use RacingBeats ram air with the stock box and a K&N replacement filter. Works great, some people have complained of idling issues on aftermarket intakes do to scater on the MAF sensor. RB's has no such issues, however no intake is going to give you noticable horsepower gains, only noise in most cases and is costly. Mazda's intake is very well designed, remove the VFAD, get RB's ram air and a better drop in filter unless you want to pay 350 bucks for at best a few HP in the high RPM range.

hey hey! easy on the vtec comments!!

noob, search.

K&N = caca. Short rams dont do much for rx8s aside from cause power loss and create a lot of noise. Consider an intake a cosmetic and noise mod. If you're seeking power, I recommend STOCK intake + racing beat duct.

Otherwise, youtube sound clips and pick which one sounds best.
