Incredible
Perhaps I am getting paranoid after seeing the Allstate commercials on insurance fraud but let me tell you what happened to me on my way home.
I am driving my 8 home on a 3 lane highway that splits. I am in the far left lane, and there is no car in the middle lane. There is a black mustang in the far right lane about 2 car lengths over.
I put on my blinker and go to merge in the center lane, as I am slowly merging over, the mustang floors it and completely comes over to the middle lane. I immediately pull over back to the left lane. At this time, the Mercedes SUV in the middle lane immediately slams on the brakes for no reason. I had to slam on my brakes in order to stop. I narrowly avoid hitting them and then the mustang takes off full speed to get away as fast as possible.
I hope this is just idiot drivers but it really makes you wonder sometimes.
I am glad the 8 has good braking....
Glad to be alive,
Dean

I think it is that way in every state. If I was really on top of things, i would have got the license plate numbers of both the cars and at least called the police and told them just in case..
The 64,000 question is whether that scam is now more popular because Allstate advertises it on national tv.
Don't get me wrong, it could just be an idiot driver but what are the odds of that mustang pulling over in my lane and the SUV slamming on the brakes for no apparent reason.

Nah, sometimes it is better to keep a short subject to make people more curious which in turns causes them to read it

Even more incredible:
Motorcyclist Allegedly Broke Speed Limit By 140 MPH
POSTED: 2:05 pm EDT September 21, 2004
WABASHA, Minn. -- A motorcyclist in Minnesota has been arrested for speeding -- while allegedly going faster than 200 mph.
The speed limit was 65 mph on U.S. Highway 61 near Wabasha. Police said Samuel Tilley was breaking that limit by 140 mph. They said a state patrol pilot who was flying overhead clocked Tilley doing 205 miles an hour while racing with another motorcyclist.
Pilot Al Loney said the bike was traveling nearly twice as fast as his plane. He radioed ahead to another state trooper, who pulled the two cyclists over.
Only the faster one was arrested.
Tilley is charged with reckless driving and driving without a motorcycle license -- in addition to the speeding charge.

Was driving down a 2+2 in Arkansas last month and saw a Civic that rear ended (ready for this?) a farm tractor with a trailer of hay. I saw the guy off the highway and asked what happened. He said he got a ticket for hitting the guy, who was breaking the law by being on the highway.
I just don't understand... Texas, here I come!

What it comes down to is negligence. Generally speaking, if you rearend someone, it was because you were following too closely and didn't give yourself enough room to brake in time. You are at fault!
But if someone purposely or even accidently cuts right in front of you in your lane, you are not negligent and you are not at fault.
It comes down to "he said, she said", and who is believed. If there is conflicting testimony about how the accident happened, the physical evidence will be important in determining who was at fault. Unfortunately, this usually means that you will not be able to prove that the other car simply cut in front of you (unless there are tire marks from the other lane in to yours, or you actually slightly hit the side/rear of the car instead of just dead center).
