I had to drive to a town about 75 miles away from here both Saturday and Sunday. I filled up before I headed back home Saturday afternoon. I drove it fairly hard over a mostly straight highway. On the way back this morning, I set the cruise on 70 the whole way (slowing down for three small towns). I also warmed it up this morning for about 10 minutes before I left. I filled up when I got there (gas is much cheaper there than here). 149 miles and I put in 7.1 gallons for 20.98 mpg. If I don't drive it like I stole it, I will consistantly get somwhere around 20 mpg. During the winter just driving back and forth to work (8 miles each way), it is hard to get a true picture of what kind of mileage I am getting due to letting it warm up twice a day.

I try and coast on neutral while going downhill. I think it saves on petrol.

2700? I think you mean 3750rpm is when the second port opens. This was in a discussion awhile back about ports, rpms, injectors and all that fun stuff. But heck I can totally see shifting at 2700 saving you tons of gas. I don't know if I can do that though (like you said Geo metros kicking your ***)

I just filled up with 93, I calculated my last 93 tank and got 14.1 mpg. In Dallas we do not have 91(at least I have never seen it) , just 87, 89 & 93, never put anything else in it.

My commute is 6 miles each way in stop and go so as long as I am getting above 14 I am happy, so you 15+ people make me jealous!

I'm still hovering between 16.5-17.5 - Not much better than an SUV. The car is arguably more fun, however.

everyone says the shifting or keeping the rpm under 3750 saves gas because the sencondary set of injectors are closed, but what about load at under 3750? I've noticed that when i keep under 3750rpm for an entire tank of gas, it's not all that great. so does anyone have any theory on load?
