Let me back this up just a bit for we 'non-comp-U-tater' types...how can I tell what 'flash' I have in the car now?

The only 'flash' I am familiar with is the one I got at the market the other day...rather nasty one too. Wish I had had my paint-ball gun with me to 'pop' the fella!

Let's just say I have it on good authority that an "L" flashed car will run off and leave a "K" flashed car after BOTH have had the "keep alive memory" reset (the brake pedal reset tool). After also flashing the "K" car to an "L", it would now run even with the first car.

Test conducted by "knowledgeable and experienced" people who all work on, and sell, Mazda's for a living.

The "L" flash is so much smoother than the "K", and the car seems to respond to the throttle a little bit quicker. Kudos to Mazda for doing their homework on this one.
Well now, that would not be the case with mine!!!!!

This is what scares me from even asking for a firmware upgrade. Is there any provision for returning to the previous firmware version if it doesn't satisfy? In my experience (non-car) many firmware upgrades are one-way tickets. If it's as difficult as people are saying to convince the dealer to uprev the thing I can only imagine what their reaction would be to someone asking to go downrev.

On the other hand, most people seem to be happy with "L" and I'd love to see even a modest mileage improvement as long as performance is as good or better.

I have now had the "L" re-flash for a couple of days.
I must eat my works now......
The "L" flash performs great with a increase in power (butt dyno).
It seems to act like CanZoomers stage 1 (what I read).
Good job to Mazda.....bad job for me to jump the gun.
My 8 really does rock now........
