i agree that buying a fleet car is asking for trouble. almost anyone who has had a company car can attest that there is no way they'd buy it after they were done with it. there's no incentive since it's not theirs and no reason to keep it nice.
but i'm also shocked at how defensive a couple on here have gotten. the OP came on with a valid reason for trading his in. i think any of us in his situation dealing with a car that has had a lot of problems and the dealership didn't seem to fix it would be thinking of doing the same. i haven't seen any bashing - in fact, the guy wants to keep it but has had too many problems. he's not looking to steer a bunch of people away from the 8.

I really don't see what he said wrong..he didn't bash 8's in the title either. All he said was he's trading it in..? Regardless, sorry you had trouble with your 8; good luck with you next car!

Your young if you think trading in your car will be the end of your car problems you got another thing comin
Plenty of cars have tons of issues. Good luck on whatever car you pick next. as if you buy used, it will always have some sort of problem, just depends how fast you figure it out.

my parents have a hummer and a volkswagen for 3 years all they have had to do is change the oil a few times. im willing to take a chance.

I've been a member of the site since I got my RX-8 in January...
It's going to be in the shop for a month. Yes I bought it used at 28k miles. I should have gotten a Car Fax.
After researching it and having such strange problems (belt broke, stalling at lights, lights coming on the dash and flashing, bad acceleration, etc) I realized there was a recall on the 2005-2006 models. Even Mazda attested to this.
Reason I say I should have gotten a CarFax report is because the engine had been replaced before I bought it. That's why the miles were so low (28k) for a 2005.
So in 3 weeks, I am going to start out with 0 MILES... I am also thinking about trading it in OR keeping it and see how it goes...this is my dream car, people, so it is very hard for me to let go of such a beauty.

this is just absolutely rediculous it has been in the shop 10 times in two years. never miss an oil change take care of it and i still have problems its not even that great of a car to keep up with all the work involved. i dont see how you people do this by the way my engine has 7,000 miles on it. im tired of the 8. worst car experience ever. you people have no idea how much i want this to be a good car.
Trade it for a new model.

FYI........your low miles statement doesn't mean a thing. I have less than 28k on my 05 and I'm the original owner and on original engine. On the other hand.......yes, you should've gotten a CarFax at the very least.
