I'm switching from Honda to RX-8

Well if I want the car I'm going to tell them I got 9 Grand cash which I do even though I got 10. I'll save a grand for diagnostic testing and possible odds and ends like recalls.

Oh no this car believe it or not is at a buick dealership around the corner from my house. It has a history of two owners. One owner an older gentleman leasing the car and the most recent previous owner that put all this stuff on the car, was upside down on the loan, and the car report shows someone not being able to make the payments on the car. So I'm going to pay the 14,500 sticker but I will finance 5500 of it. Assuming I put down 9 grand on the car and finace it for 5 years my payments after taxes and bullshit will come to 100 a month which is dirt cheap for a bad *** ride if you ask me. definately more pimped out, faster, more badass looking than any of my crx's and civics I've been pushing the past 12 years.

I'm so pumped right now I wish I could leave work. My room mate who's going to drive me there will probably want to FI his 2007 Si coupe after this.
Little does the salesman know I'm going to push it to the limit after the engine warms up muahahahaha.
I might finally be a part of the big kids car crew now
Edit: And flames! I finally will be able to own a car that backfires flames! I havent felt this excited since I touched a girls upper thigh for the first time when I was 15.
I swear if I don't get roadhead from my girlfriend now I'm calling shananigans.

Ok I just got back from the test drive. Two problems: The rear tires were gone and after we pulled out of the lot and came to a stop light I proceeded to push the clutch in and the cars RPM dropped down to 500 then shut off. I restarted the car and came up to the next stop light and the same thing happened. I have no idea what this could be being this will be my first rotary and told the salesman I would buy the car if he replaced the back tires and fixed the air/fuel problem I think is going on.
The previous owner left some pre oil for pre mixed gas and I noticed that this car is more modified than I thought. He has a rear strut bar in the trunk, racing beat exhaust, carbon parts everywhere including custom rotary stereo ***** and pettit racing stuff in the interior. I'm positive there's a short shift kit and a performance clutch I wasn't ready for. He also has slotted rotars all the way around and tire wear seemed to be even at least.
What should I do guys? Should I buy the car if they promise to fix it? It's at a major dealership but I don't know the extent of people working for them dealing with supercharged rotarys. The engine bay is clean and idles fine but when we test drove the car it would shut off. I told him if he fixed everything that I would come back on Friday and possibly put a deposit down on the car. What's th deal guys?

Huge hole is huge
The shutting off could be a few things...hopefully not a needed rebuild. Get the compression numbers, and if they are good, you may just need new coils/plugs/wires. That fixed + the new tires at 14.5k sounds like a hell of a deal, and I'd jump on that **** instantly.
If all else fails, and the engine does die soon after buying it, if you have a little extra money left over, you could get it rebuilt from someone reputable for, what, 2-3k? That jumps it up to 17ish K, still a hell of a deal for that car in my eyes.
I'd say go for the coils first, with a comp. test.

Just got off the phone with the owner of pettit racing. He even remembered the previous owner and the car. He said after the guy got the supercharger installed he never brought the car back to have the computer flashed and modified. Makes sense...
Edit: also when test driving the car a brand new mustang GT pulled up next to me and revved the engine. At the stop light with the salesman in the car I gunned it and the car made the stang looked like it was standing still. This car definately feels like it's running 13's.

Yea well I wasn't going super fast mind you but you could tell the stang was touching the gas definately. There was a salesman and my room mate in the car as well and I respect cars and the different personalities of people on the road as well as respect for safe driving. But I did have to rev the engine a little I'm not going to buy a car and not take it up to at least 7500 rpm like I did in second gear. I was very impressed. I can't believe pettit racing is like 10 miles from my house I'm stoked about that.

This is obviously going to be a daily driver and this car has to last me 5-6 years as well as the supercharger so I have to make sure I do this right.

I'm going to go ahead and say it. If you want power, you can go the route of turbocharging the Renesis, which in my opinion isn't worth it, or you can do a four port turbocharged 13B swap. That is the route I would go, and so long as I keep my Rx8 for a few more years it is the route I will go. For the cost of turbo kits and the outcome of the performance, you could buy a 13B-REW and rebuild it, port it, and up the boost on the stock twins and make more power.
If you're not looking for crazy amounts of power, just a good boost, get a midpipe to replace the cats (assuming you don't have emissions testing), get a good tune, and you'll have good amounts of NA power.
Suspension is the main thing you'll want to do to these cars. The suspension geometry is wonderful, it just needs to be stiffer.

Lol that was funny but lets be nice to one another it's thanksgiving! The time we celebrate us taking from native americans! Just kidding just kidding but seriously I wish everyone a happy thanksgiving.
He is right but you are right as well. My next car being my daily driver I'm already hurting for rides and tired of asking my girlfriend and room mate to drive me around I need a daily driver and swapping motors doesn't fit my time frame or help that I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building.
Edit: My mechanic skills aren't that great either. When it came to my civic it took me 2 days to get my Tien damper suspension with running back and forth to the auto parts store to rent tools and getting stuck on the rear set. I've done things like bolt on performance and could probably get away with switching the motor but when it comes to wiring up the comp and harness to the new engine count me out. I have no idea about any of that. I read that guys full picture detailed article under the multimedia/photo section titled "surgery has begun" and that guy is insane. Fabricating complete parts from scratch and tearing through it like it's nothing making it look so simple and so much fun if I knew what I was doing. My hats off to people with that much knowledge.
