I'm going for it. Greetings from a new member.

Decided to go for it and buy my first RX-8. Its a 2004 6-speed manual with 29,020 miles. Brilliant Black with leather, multi CD / DVD, GPS, etc.

Only has one owner and he has a full history on it. Picking it up tomorrow and heading strait to Mazda to check for any engine faults (gotta use that warranty if it hasn't been applied yet)

My dad has an RX-8 from the same year so I've been hitting him up for info as well as this place (nice place, but search is useless when a million of the same questions are asked and only answered with "use the search feature")

I'm not very car tech savvy. I work in the video game industry as a special fx artist. But I have enough sense to research every step I take. I was a huge fan of my AE86 and MR2 before I sold them for a family car (sadness).

Here it is at the dealership.

Very nice, congratulations. I am also very close to getting an 05 Velocity Red. I'm on the same boat as you, trying to read up as much as possible.

Great choice. Low mileage for an '04, and it also looks in great shape.

Enjoy it to the max!

Think I got all the rice out of my system with my '94 240sx. Sold it to some "kids" and they wrapped it around a pole the next day. Got a call from their dad to grant access to the car since technically it was still in my name.

Still loving it! Got tires for it today. Ordered some OEM spark plugs yesterday. I'm not a gear head by any means, but this forum has so much useful info that I don't feel like changing the plugs will be an issue. Replaced my avatar to reflect my gamer origins. :p

Welcome to the addiction.

Oh yeah and we need real pics of you and the car, not dealer pics, or else you don't exist. Lol

Well we don't necessarily need photos of you, just not dealer photos of the car. If you have a nice second car then possibly side by side wouldn't hurt.

Congrtas and good luck! On a side note I just can't stand the look of the Prius. The rx8 makes up for it though.

The only thing I would ever catch a prius with is a baseball bat. Those things gave hybrids a visual bad stereotype. :P

I see an Oregon plate and snow on the ground. You must not be in the Portland area as I am.

Congrats on the new car. As several folks have already said, that's low miles for a 2004 model.

I'm in central Oregon. Not the best weather for an RX-8. Thank goodness for Gran Turismo 5.
