Angry I'm FURIOUS!

So not too long ago, I got a brand new bumper put on my car. Not only a few days later some retard hits me. Due to the way he hit me, it would've been an insurance battle and it would've taken months on a settlement so i said screw it and decided just to pay for it myself, as i can't stand to have a messed up car for that long.

The autobody shop estimated $900 for the repair. They said it'd take a week.

2 and a half weeks later it's "finished" Oh and now it's going to cost $1350

I get there, and there are cracks all over the paint in the front bumper.

I bitched him out, and he's going to take it off and re-do it.

I'm just so mad because I'm having car withdrawals and now i have to wait another whole "week".

At a 4 way stop sign intersection,

I was going straight and he turned left into me, i guess he didn't take the time to look right before he took off.

It'd be an insurance battle because they can't prove who was at the stop sign first, and who had the right of way. I never saw him and he never saw me apparently. I believe he just rolled right through the sign because it was in a fairly dead area with no one around and i definitely would of saw him stopped up there.

You apparently don't have full coverage (collision) insurance, otherwise you would be paid minus your deductible.

I have a $1000 deductible, i do have full coverage, but my rates would go up if I made a claim. It's not worth it for not that much damage.

always file a police report, that speeds up claims considerably.

There was a police report, i took it to my insurance agent. She said the way it was written would make it a very long insurance battle or for whatever reason if i was to lose i would have a claim and a higher payment.

That sucks. if it's just a bit over ur deductible, it might be better for you to just suck it up and pay for it out of pocket.

Time to get new insurance. Your agent's answer should have been "i will send the adjuster out and we will cut you a check..." Your rates always goes up regardless if it's your fault or not anyway.

It is not that cut and dry though. It really depends on your state and your insurance company. If it is not your fault then generally the other persons insurance will cover everything and your premium really shouldn't go up. If you get into many accidents then your insurance may look at you as an increased risk and they may up your premiums even if it is not your fault because you apparently like to drive in high risk areas.

he shouldnt be able to go more than 10% over the original estimate. so if he said $900, he cant charge you $1300.

i dont know how the laws are in your area, but you cant do that here in MD.
