"Warning, as soon as this car reaches 600 miles it will become a brand new entity and may be hazardous to your health. "
Joking aside breaking in an engine doesn't happen at the turn of 600 miles. You go progressively and rev it more and more as you put mileage on it. If you haven't heard the chime already feel free to check it out, the car won't turn into a pumpkin , just make sure you can handle the adrenaline rush that comes with it... :-))

Some people (e.g. me) increased revs by 1000rpm per 100 miles after break-in: 7000rpm cap until 700 miles, 8000rpm cap until 800 miles, 9000 rpm cap until 900 miles. I have been trying to hit 10,000rpm for a while now without any luck....
Once I started going over 9000rpm regularly I had an oil change done just for the hell of it (at about 1100 miles, free). You don't really need to do that but I doubt it hurts the car.

imo
it takes about 10,000 miles for the car(engine, suspension, steering, leather seat, etc) to fully breakin.
i am at 1088 had not pass 4500rpm, oly in ocasion it shotup to 6500 because of howwilling the engine is.
by ther way: ny boss system sounded alot better now that it been burnin, it just has more clarity and punch to the bass, everything just gotting loose in a excellentway.

i tracked my gas mileage and waited for it to level off, atleast i had some evidence that something was changing in the motor, not just an odometer reading =p

i'm at 610 now and nothing magical happened. i didnt hear the ecu "flip" or the exhaust note growl more or gain any HP. i didn't need to. i love this car just the way it is. and now i can open her up a little bit more.

I'm hitting 8000 rpm at least once a day now! I'm still a little nervous about going to 9000 and hearing the beep. There is no rev limiter that will cut the motor off, is there?
