It really depends on how long your car is disconnected from the battery. My car was in the body shop after it was hit and they had the battery disconnected for a whole day and when they connected the battery nothing happened when they tried to start the car. They had to send it to the dealer to get the ECU reflashed

Τhe settings and maps are stored in EEPROMS. These do NOT lose their charge so easily, if at all. Something else happened with your car....

Unhooking the battery, changing the battery or anything similar will only result in your radio losing the stored stations, and maybe asking you for the PIN, if you have activated the anti-theft system Even the DSC activation is something that will never be necessary (at least this stands for the EUDM RX8s). Is this even a valid procedure ?

for DSC activation is almost always needed... But very easy to re-activate... Turn the vehicle ignition on, turn the steering fully clockwise, then fully counterclockwise, then the DSCOFF light will come off. Then turn the ignition off, then back on... and everything should be fully operational then.

i know its just a silly thing for them to say. reason- if your car was part of the thermal damage recall and had the work done or it was not involved then there is no flash for you to get. also no "flash" would get your car started if it refused to start.

could be there was something wrong with the PATS and they needed to program the system to know the key again but that isnt effected by a dead or disconnected battery either. other than that it would have to be mechanical/electrical in nature.
