Huh. I'd agree with you for the Lotus, definitely a performance car with a bit of exotic feel; I have had a hard time liking the Viper (same as Corvette). Last 'real live' Viper I saw was end of last summer...........it was sitting on its roof in the median of I-94 where it meets 23. Appeared as though the driver leaned on it coming down the on-ramp and then ran out of talent. ******.

This past weekend , Saturday, their was an autocrossed event. The Viper Club was doing some runs . What a beautiful car . Hung around for a couple of hours , damn those cars are sweet. You barely get to see them , but their were 27 of those suckers out there.
That would be my choice.......................

I'd look at a GTO, a last-gen Audi S4, an FD, an S2000, or a last-gen M3. All of them were in my price range and I think they're all good cars (though some are far easier to own than others).

I was going to buy a Mazdaspeed MX-5 until I totally fell for the RX-8 again and figured I can only get a chance to own one now. Damn environmentnuts make all nice cars expensive. The only downside is my government gets like $40,000 because of the import fees and registering it in Norway. I don't like to contribute that much to society, but that's the price for a sportscar here :P Oh, that and 8 dollars per gallon Haven't got it yet though, so I don't know what I should be happy about yet

G-37 (Beautiful car and service center that now how to treat a customer)
335i (Heavy but great potential)
Mini S (Great MPG, fun)
Solstice Turbo (This would be strictly a toy but a fun one)

Well, I have the 8 and I just brought home a new Cooper S on Saturday to keep the 8 company. If I were to replace the 8 I used to think it would be with a 350Z (370Z coming out in 2010) but I have really taken a liking to the Lexus IS-F so I suppose I'll get one of those maybe by the fall.
The "F" is one awesome car! I can't afford that kind of coin but if I could I wouldn't think twice about it.

What does the 8 really compete against? Seems like it's a class to itself as a sports car with sedan-like access to the rear seats.
So, what other cars have:
-usable rear seat
-sports car handling
-rear wheel drive
-better mpg
The only cars I can think of are bmw 3-series, but that's sporty handling, not sports-car handling. Z does not have the same kid-hauling capabilities so that is out.

These were the competitors before I decided on my 8:
Mini Cooper S (a little too goofy for my tastes)
VW GTI (the next in line after the 8)
Speed 3 (great car, but I just wasn't feeling it)
Subaru WRX (interior was U-G-L-Y and my boyfriend has one so I just drive his)
Pontiac Solstice (No trunk + no backseat = bad for daily driver)
But if I could afford it I would have to go with an Elise for the win, but probably not as a daily driver.

Mentalhealth is overrated
well..I need 4 seats. The BMW is out because I don’t want to be a cliché douche-bag.
I'm narrowing is down to a 2007 G35 coupe or an IS350. Both cars are a different feel...but that's ok. I could live with either one for different reasons.

In no particular order during my search back in 06/07.
- G35 coupe
- 330ci ZHP
- Audi TT (I know I know....)
- 350Z (no back seat. Major negative)
- S2000 (same as above)
- MX-5 (same as above. But was cheap!)
- MR2 turbo. It was fantastic. Cheap. reliable, good looking!
In the end, the 8 felt the best for our criteria.

Audi S4

VW R32
Ferrari Enzo
Cadillac CTS-V
S14 (240SX) the last one offered in US
G35 Coupe
FC RX-7 flawless condition (good luck finding that)

Why do you all mention VW R32 and VW Gti without mentioning the model name? Are we speaking about Golf, are they differently named there?
That's like speaking of Mazda RX-8 GT and saying Mazda GT.

Golf is no longer used in the US. There's the Rabbit base model and then the GTI and R32.
