Quick question before this thread dies: can someone tell me why there are no RX8s with LS1 or LS2 engines in them? That was a very popular swap with RX7s and the gentlemen is saying that the engine bays are of very similar size? Is it because the RX8 hasn't been around that long or are there other issues?
Thanks
Thanks

I think there has been one mentioned before but not sure if the person ever went through with it. I've seen a few ideas so sometimes hard to keep track. Though I'm sure part of it is that there just arent as many 8's out there and it's still relatively new. A lot of engine swaps will happen when the engine goes bad... so even at the rate of replacement, if it's under the recall, it's free. So some of that might be the reason. I'd imagine when more engines start failing and arent under warranty or recall, then we'll see a few more engine swaps of that sort. Who knows? I could be wrong lol.

Not many people buy a new car to turn around and start hacking it up. Most people still owe monthly payments on their car and many are still under warranty. For the next few years it won't make financial sense for most people to be doing swaps.

i've gone turbo and my motor blew a couple months back. not necessarily due to the turbo. i lost compression on the front rotor housing. i'm currently swapping out the original motor (70k) and replacing it with a mazda reman. so far i've spend $2650 on the motor and $130 on new plugs...labor is all on me.
