Angry I thought Mazda fixed the squealing brake problem!

Grrr, for the past couple weeks the brakes on my car squeal REALLY loud at times. Literally so loud that I can her them with the windows up and the radio on. Then other times they make no noise at all.

I'm really pissed, because I don't even have 7000 miles on the damn car yet. I'll have to see if I can get a walk-in appointment Monday since I'm off work. If not, then I'll have to waste part of next Saturday at the dealer. But I could have sworn that issue was resolved before the 2007 models came out. ****!

So is this something I should be concerned about? Are the pads bad or is this just an undocumented "feature"? Brakes are about the most important thing on a car...

this solved my squeeking problem

Turtle Wax F21 Foaming Wheel Cleaner
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

While your cleaning your wheels spray the cleaner in the brakes... lots of it!

I do it every other time I clean my car and they never squeal now.

I feel your pain man. I just bought an 05. Brake pads had less than 10k miles on them and had been replaced twice, the first time with cheap ceramics and then again with more expensive ones. After checking this site, I got a copy of the service bulletin to fix the problem using OEM pads and a specific installation method. I had my shop order the pads and took them a copy of the service bulletin instructions. They were fine for a couple of days and now they have that on and off squeal again just as I am coming to a stop. They seem to know when you are pulling up next to someone vs. pulling in your garage as they only seem to squeal when it would be most embarassing. I guess I'll be giving the hawks a try but will probably just wait until the next oil change and get it all done together.

Where's the best place to order or find the hawk ceramics?

What do you guys mean by dust? Is it that **** that's really hard to get off when they go on the corners of the rx8 rims? If so, that's a huge bitch to get off.

you probably have the damn "life warrenty" pads... they are loud, and they mess up the brake rotor fast.

Following suggestions on the forum, I waxed my rims after getting rid of that ****. It is much easier to clean now. You should try it Shazy!

the stock pads emit a dark colored dust that seems to get embedded in the rims.

the hawk ceramic pads emit less dust, but the dust that comes off is a light gray color. It also seems to lightly stick to the rims, so a cloth wipes it off, no hard rubbing, washing, or chemicals needed.

when my current set wear out, I will definitely buy another set.

Mine were squealing so bad, that I really thought I needed new brake pads. So without checking I went and bought some. I checked later and they are easily 3/4th full .

I found a very good cleaning with some high pressure water removed the squealing for good. The standard washing I get at my usual car wash, don't really remove all the dust next to the rotor and such.
