I think something is wrong with my dealer...

I took my car in for its 65k checkup today, and when I went to pay for the oil change (no tire rotation as I'm about to buy new ones) they told me no charge, it was covered under warranty. And I'm all for free stuff, but I didn't want them coming back in a week calling me because they made a "mistake," so I asked the girl if she was sure, since my car wasn't under warranty any more. And the cashier said "Yup, says right here the manager said it was covered."

I'm thinking maybe they were all high on something. But if they want to pay for my oil changes, I'm not going to argue.

How could anyone not like Elara.

Good for you girl. Maybe next time you should wear something a little more revealing and see what other goodies you can get for free.

aren't original owners of Rx 8's given free oil changes due too the lie's given off by Mazda about the "actual" horsepower numbers our engines produce?

Nah, we just got free scheduled maintenance for the life of the warranty, which, in my case, was up 5k miles ago. And I can't imagine they like me all that much, as I've gotten into shouting matches with them before, mostly the time they wouldn't mount my pirellis on my rims because they said that the size (245/40-18) was too dangerous.

Like I said, I think they were just high or something today.

I dont like Elara, because she is not telling us which dealership is it.

Even she did, I still hate her, cuz I dont think the dealership is within the NYC area.

I've got free oil changes as well. I also bought an extended warranty for too much money for no other reason than if I suddenly dropped dead, it's one less thing for my wife to have to worry about.

I'm sure that if she started driving my 8, she'd get over losing me in a hurry!!

My dealership gives free oil changes between the 7500 mile scheduled services. So I'd pay for oil at 60,000 and 67,500, but would get a free oil change at 65,000.

5,000 miles ago?

You raked me over the coals last year for asserting that the service plan could potentially be extended with the powertrain warranty. (Something that I never brought up with my own dealer).

However we were apparently both wrong, and the service plan has been extended by use of the new "Spin the Wheel and Maybe You Pay Plan"

maybe your mod powers are slowing leaking into reality, like what happened to Neo at the end of the 2nd Matrix movie.

well, i'm guessing that's because as part of the complimentary oil change, they scratched up the bottom of your front bumper, made a small ding in the lower right fender well too- both of which that you haven't noticed yet. and, oh yah, they also monkeyed around with your transmission and will nail u on a the price of a new one in about 10k more miles.

Hmm..only thing I remember arguing about was whether the free maintenance was still in effect for the extra extended warranty they gave us after the weird engine stuff (mine was). Maybe we were arguing about completely different things and didn't realize it.

But yes, I am still very confused about the free oil change. But they called me yesterday to see how my service was, and didn't mention "oh, we made a mistake!" so I guess I'm good to go.

And this was Pearson Lincoln Mercury Mazda in Richmond, VA. So no, not near NY, sorry.

My god, I think you're right. I always wondered why the other customers backed away from the counter when I came in.
