Oh and I am sorry to hear what happened to your car. Eventhough i think you were asking for it - nobody deserves to have this happen to them.

On the bright side - if you can get this car back to stock and a new motor from mazda - HEY.. ITS A NEW MOTOR!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your loss but at the same time it is kinda your own fault.

I would worry though about some kinda Mazda Rep cruising this board and making a note of a blown Renesis in your area and if you come in to try and get a new motor they would red-flag you.

What the hell? People get blasted when they come on this forum and start talking about racing stories, but this guy gets a "tough break" and a pat on the back? Is everyone so enamored with turbocharged 8's that they're willing to completely ignore his extraordinarily bad judgment?

i don't think it's a turbo thing. i believe he has gotten to know a lot of the people on here from the lounge and at the SoCal meets. personally, i'm appalled at the fact that the street racing comment even made it on here without getting the thread pulled. yes, i feel bad for anyone that blows their engine but i feel less bad for them when it's their own fault for making such a juvenile decision.

damn, running lean is usually when you melt a piston in a FI car... i guess in this case... blow the seals...?... but you got your throttle back... after the innitial loss of power.... i dont know if that can happen if its a blown seal. ???

good luck...

you did some pretty dumb and wreckless stuff, but i'm still sorry to hear what happened.

going FI on a NA engine is just asking for trouble

It is indeed "wreckless" since he didn't wreck the car at least... but it's rather "reckless".

I was wondering why your sig. didn't say Greddy Turbo.

Sorry to hear about your problem Romeo. You were just too temted to go at the s2k. I had a similar problem, when me and a friend installed my brake stuff (rotors, lines, pads) he had to take off, so we couldn't bleed the rear; therefore, me not being able to brake - or at least me not wanting to even try it. And i drive fast, I don't street race, mind any of you, but I DO drive fast. But I didn't, i had to use up all my patience but I did it. All in all, you should of been more patient. "Beat an s2k now? Or ALL THE TIME?"

I can beat s2k's (on a safe controlled race)
Just for arguments sake, I dont Street race.
I have a lot of history with that. a friend of mine's kid was killed in a "street" race and Ive been in a life threatening accident in a "canyon" race. and have seen plenty of horrable "Fwy" races.

Yes, this was on the Fwy, but of coarse at the time that It was, there werent any other cars on the road.

Just for the record. Street racing isnt my thing.

Anyway, back on topic.

I just woke up after tossing and turning all night.
I was up at like 6, then 6:30, then 7, then 7:30. you get the picture....

Im going to go try and start my car...
Then im going to try and push start my car... if this works. im off to get a gnarly *** tune and hope I can stay FI.

wish me luck.

Holy **** Romeo! No offense man, but WTF were you thinking?! Sounds like a blown motor.
I hope you get it fixed soon.

Hmm, yet another reason why we won't see another RX-7 or RX-8 in our near future. Mazda is gonna have to chalk this up to 'bad engine' when in face, it's not truly their fault.

So people who condone street racing and are sympathetic to people who street race a car which is OBVIOUSLY not ready to be pushed to those limits are now "REAL rx8 enthusiasts"?!
Oh wait, I forgot.... "Real enthusiasts" also condone you taking the engine back to Mazda to have THEM (AND ultimately US) pay for YOUR mistakes??

Just wanted to get clarification on that...

if he's using the emu with stock tune and has a bov, he might well flood it ...

he said 13-14 while driving, which should be fine, assuming he wasn't in boost.

why the engine turned off while driving.. i donno.

The only phrase I hear on this forum that is stupider than "bulletproof" is "enthusiast". The phrase itself makes no sense. Are you all that enthusiastic? Do you give a team cheer everytime a car drives by? And why are you an enthusiast just because you like a niche car like the 8 yet someone who likes a Crossfire is an idiot? Maybe you just like a car and someone else likes a different car. Maybe we don't need to create stupid terms just to feel like we're more noble or educated or sophisticated than someone else.
