I need some hard to find info...

What's up guys. I have been searching for 2 hours...and can't find what I need.

I need a good estimate on what an 04 AT RX8 will do in the 1/4 and 0-60 completely stock. She does have a new engine...dunno if that matters at all.

BTW, I'm Jason...and maybe suckered into an 04 AT. I test drove a new 08 AT-6speed. I was under the impression mine, which is coming from VA would be a 6-speed, too. However, I was wrong....it's a 4-speed. My main concern is I used to own a 2000 celica GTS with intake + exhaust (automatic).

Is the rx8 auto even gonna be that fast?....if not I am not gonna be happy. Papers are signed and everything...so I guess I own her now. Thanks guys

BTW...my celica also had 4K in other parts, too....0-60 in tad over 7 secs and 1/4 in 16 flat....so no rocket ship.

that bad huh?....The dealership is getting a call in the am....because I was under the impression, it was EXACTLY like the one I drove...minus auto up and down windows.

does adding an exhaust and intake even help the A/T at all?

low 14s, I think about 14.4 or so. There is a better article, I will look for it.

If you have not taken delivery of it yet, just refuse it if it is not what you want. If you have not taken delivery of it yet, you may still get out of it. If you want it, then enjoy it.

I love the car, but it is not what I thought I was buying...or lead to believe.

I paid 15,300 (I thinks it's a touring)...everything minus nav, and sunroof and it has 48K miles.

DaveCM203...where you from in central nc, I'm close to Raleigh, and that's pretty central...haha.

yeah if you are asking about 1/4 mile and 0-60 times dont even consider the automatic, let alone the 4 speed 4 port automatic. i have one and it is not a fast straight line car and there is no cheap/easy way to change that. an auto rx8 is a fun car but it is not a fast car.

the 04 AT has less hp than the 08 192 vs 212 and less gears 4 vs 6......the car is slow like molasses and your celica would have been faster....you can also get a newer 8 for less money with less miles....search more and search better

I am about 30-40 min south of Raleigh. I live near Sanford. Are you going to make it to the Dragon in (I think) Sept.? Maybe we can get a caravan together.

Mine is a touring. Touring comes with the roof. You may have the sport. The miles are not bad though. Post some pics for us.

The GT-S (stock) had 180hp and only 133 ft-lb of torque. I drove them. They were dogs off the line. I don't know how you can say the 8 is "slow like molasses" compared to the celica. He will probably like the 8 as it is similar to the Celica as you have to drive both like you stole them to get the most out of them.

you do not know what you are talking about. a lot of transmissions built for drag racing are automatic.

the 4AT has 125ish whp. the 6MT has 185ish whp and runs mid 14s. i ran a 14.4 @ 93. i have no idea where c&d got a trap speed of 95. mebbe i need to change my spark plugs. (37k, never replaced)

i'd put the 4AT in the 16s for a really good run. http://robrobinette.com/et.htm (<- never trust these)

the rx8 weights 3000lbs and the 4AT has 125 whp. so.. yeah..

^Wait you haven't actually bought it yet? Why are you still getting an Auto...? If you want any speed, get a manual.

funny i thought the GTS had the same 180 stock as i had in my XRS....but i had the 6mt then too you drove them i OWNED one.....mine was far from a dog but an AT tranny 8 is in comparison.....and i said the AT is like molasses not the 6mt.....but then the 6mt isnt that quick in comparison either......if OP is looking for more power then stay away from the auto's......or get another car
