I have a 2005 Mazda Rx-8 and im trying to replace the ac vent above the cd player, i found a diagram for how to remove the vent, but the problem im left with is that the diagram is for a manual 6spd so the removal of the shifter **** and the console around it isnt the same for my automatic in that section. so can anyone tell me how to remove my automatic shifter and the console around the shifter the proper way so i dont break anything??

i think the console might come off but i need to get the shifter off and i dont see a set screw and i dont want to try to screw it off it feels like im about to break it when i try, i can hear the plastic under pressure when i tried.

 

Yes, the automatic shift **** just unscrews and screws back on. Quit being a sissy and give it some muscle

why do you have to take the shifter off? cant you just make it pass the opening?
