My dealer just called and asked me for my email address, because Mazda is going to be sending out some "things" and status updates on my car and he had to put my email with my order for me to get them.

I'm going to start banging my head against a wall, because this is exactly what I asked them to do when I ordered the car(ie, make it a pre-order)- I even made them write down my email address in the folder on my car, and had the folks at the other end of rx8orders@mazda give them a call to explain what they needed to do, and when I was in there last time, my email address was prominently written across the top of my order.

I'm guessing enough people complained about not actually being in the pre-order program, that Mazda sent out a deler-wide email explaining (or threatening) on how to marry the email address to the order, that also indicated they HAD TO DO IT NOW.

And he told me that they were delayed, but only by a couple weeks, so I should be seeing my car mid-june. I wish Mazda would just send out an official press release on this whole thing.

 

Well...maybe....finally you are going to get squared away by your dealer.

My compliments to all from this board who bombarded Mazda on getting this whole e-mail / pre-order thing cleared up.

 

after reading this I called my dealer to see if he can correct his mess and change my car to a pre-order he said he did not know anything about the pre-order and the gift or arrival privilage so he is going to check!!
but listen to this he said he going to California for a Mazda meeting and he said that they may be getting "X men" car one per dealer any comment!!!

 

When I visited my dealer earlier this week he showed me the memo that listed the 'gifts' for preorders. I don't have a copy of it and only briefly looked at it. But I THINK there was a section in it telling dealers how to add or that they need to add the customer's name and email to the order for them to receive the gifts.

I'll ask to see the memo again the next time I stop by there.

 

ELara, how are you gettin the car in mid June? I thought Mazda sent out a letter to all dealerships stating mid July release for first allocation?

 

Please note, *I* did not say I was getting my car in mid-June. My DEALER said this when I asked him. I never said whether I actually expect to get it then. I really don't care when it comes as long as it gets here before the end of the year.
