the guy who said sports cars should only come in manual, i drive an rx-8 and i can tell you i love it but its the slowest of all the sports cars (stock) manual or automatic

even turbo pt cruisers seem to have an edge on us lol

but none of the other cars under 55,000 bucks look as tight as our 8's

Oh yeah, I forgot about the ECU mappings. Looks like a very good value to increase HP by flashing the ECU, for a small amount of money.

Thanks for bringing that point up too.

I highly recommend not doing any engine or drivetrain mods that may violate your warranty. The engines in the auto's appear to be dropping like flies. If you engine goes and they find performance mods, it may not get covered under warranty.

For quicker launches on the RX-8 auto, without supercharger or turbo, the mods for those appear to be:

1. Customized Torque Converter.

Re-amemiya has a test project to make customized torque converters for the RX-8, but it will not be complete until around spring of next year.

There are several companies in the states that do it ( maybe http://www.specriteconverters.com/ ), so you may give them a try.

This is huge for the Auto RX-8 because then you could launch them at 4,000 RPM as oppose to the around 2,000 RPM limit now.

2. Pulley

They give some HP gains ( anywhere from 1 to 12 HP, depending on who you get it from and who you believe ) due to them being lighter than stock. But they have the added advantage of responsiveness. A pulley that people seem to be having good luck with is- ( Agency Pulley, http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/ag...r%20pulley.htm ).

3. Re-program ECU and raise rev-limit ( the RX-8 Auto rev-limit can be raised to 8,500 to 9,000 )

Re-amemiya and some others do this. This would let you bypass 7,500 RPM and "search" for a little extra. It also, will help more the higher gear you are in and top speed.

4. If you do have your rev-limit raised on the Auto, make sure you get an Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooler and the Automatic Transmission Fluid changed.

5. Cold AIR Intake

Will help a bit, especially if you get your rev-limit raised. They give a bit more power the faster and the higher your engine is rev.ed

6 and beyond- All the usuall stuff like Exhaust, Mid-pipe, etc...
