I had a heavy modified miata now I have an rx-8. Its auto but I still love it. Can I put a lightweight flywheel on my AUTO rx-8. I want it to launch better than what it does now. And NO im not going to trade it for a 6mt. please answer

WHAT DO I DO TO MAKE IT FASTER BESIDES TRADING IT FOR THE 6MT.Im not looking for too much speed. I just want maybe 10-20 more horsepower without turbo. The auto forum doesnt give much info. Can someone help me get a little faster.

umm, lets see. intake, exhaust, midpipe will probably give you around 10 or so whp.

its an 04 used white rx8.22k miles.greddy exhaust. What is the best stuff to put on it.please include brands.I have extra money from my insurance and want to beef up my rx-8 as much as possible but again, no turbo (thanks ngo for the imput)

 

i believe you have an 05 if your car is white.

as for what brands... you can't really go wrong with any. all intakes and exhaust will put out around the same power, but if you want go, worry about the weight of the exhaust too, as some weigh more than stock and some are lighter. greddy exhaust you can keep. as for midpipe, im very fond of the rp supercat because it has the best gains without throwing the CEL light on, but you can look into race pipes or whatnot if you aren't concerned about it.

So far in N/A tuning, the most power gain is a retune with the Interceptor-X which is still too expensive for the power produced. The Revi intake works too. Other than that no mods are giving much power gain except FI. By now I think you would feel a bit of regret getting the 8.

 

I am sorry for what I'm about to state here, but I think that the rx8's should only come in manual.....

 

Not downing any one with AT. But when i buy a sport car, I always go with MT. I guess when i think of sport cars, i guess i think of the excitment of shifting and the whole driving exp. but as for AT it doesnt matter if im driving a sport version or a regular old AT, they all feel the same, which is boring.

If you are looking for a better launch on an auto...you can always brake torque it at launch. Otherwise...there is nothing of significance, even a turbo wouldn't help an auto much right off the line.

 

Its my opinion, not his. so if he taken that im trying to down him then that is him. but my post is what i think, each person thinks differently. so that is why i said not to down any one with AT, each person has its own thoughts about a car. so my opinion of a AT is my opinion. IF he wants a AT then good for him. But when I TIHNK OF A SPORT CAR i think of MT. I didnt say when HE THNKS OF SPORT CAR.

but yah , why would i post something that the others already had about mods for a AT? If 3 ppl already gave tip on modding a AT think taht person needs a 4th person to state the same thing the other 3 did?

OH btw CJkim i have a "AT S2k" as a second car how can i make it faster? oh wait they dont make it as AT. How about how can we make a AT Ferrai faster? Oh NVM that will not work also.
