Man, now I know to avoid these... I ran over one once at 70MPH, and I heard a nasty thump. I looked under afterwards, but found no damage. I'll count myself lucky...

I had the same thing happen to me in April. Massive dump truck lost the tread on its wheel right infront of me. It tore the appearance package part of the bumper off, cracked the bumper, cracked the grill, and all sorts of other hell to my tires, wheel wells ect. Long story short, even after getting the insurance info from the truck and a police report, the truck company refused to pay and my insurance company complied. They said it was considered a road hazzard and it was held against me as a single car collision. I had to pay the deductible and my rates went up. At least the repair company did an excellent job with it.
I totally feel for you man. I hope your insurance wont be as gay as mine was and they actually persue the trucking company for it.
