My mechanic thinks they did nothing but add more glue to the updated visors. But i think the silcone lubricant idea is a good one.

I must find cars with visor issues. My 97 Sentra commuter is known for sunvisor death too. Fortunately I found one on a car being parted out.

The heat is just plain ridiculous right now! 85 degrees at 7am, 113 heat index, what the hell??

I've been using those dual window shades that fold up into a small disc that fits perfectly between the E-brake and passenger seat. Last weekend I forgot to put them up, and when my girlfriend got into the car at 3pm with her dress she burned the hell out of herself on the seats. Took three minutes before I could even touch the steering wheel or shifter.

My car said 124 when I left it outside from 2:45 til 5:15 yesterday.

Haven't had any problems on this 8 with the visors, but I did on my 07.

this happens in NOVA during the summer also... I hated that. Getting into the car at 5:15am and it's 85 90 degrees out with 1000% humidity....

heat index is usually not that bad but it still sucks in the summer here. Coming from NE PA, NOVA blows.

I lost 2 visors in the time I owned my RX-8. I think it helped after I had my tinted windows all around, and the front windshield tinted(about 4 inches at the top). Never used my visors after the tint.

This part should really be a Recall due to safety issues (falling while driving) and poor designed. Anybody else agree with me? or have the same issues in hot climates? The temp here was 105 deg today but imagine how hot it is inside the car........
hmm, lived in dallas or austin as long as i've had my 8, 5+ years, and knock-on-wood haven't had this problem.

yes it's hot here, but it's all relative, you'll get used to it. and i didn't read that tsb but i'm inclined to think this issue has nothing to do with heat ... ?

I use to live in texas and now i live in tennessee. One of the very first days we got close to 100 here...i came out from work and my windshield had cracked str8 down from the very top center for no apparent reason. When i got it looked at the reason i was given.....HEAT. I feel for ya but i would much rather lose a visor than a windshield!

Haha I dont even use my AC when its usually 100+ degrees outside, it kills my car so I'd rather just have me suffer than my car trying hard to pump out cold air in traffic... : /

Dude, I don't think your 8 will care. And I'm sure your seats will appreciate not being used as a sweat sponge..

during 75 deegre or lower weather the ac becomes so cold anything above that it hardly gets cold, curse you mazda and focusing too much on the handling of the car to care about the ac lol

eat my own words....finally had this happen after 5+ years. it happened while i was driving, and i made the decision that i didn't give a damn about the vanity mirror light, so i yanked the **** down...the wires are still intact, but because i "ripped" it off, the connectors in the visor were bent.

soooo...it is pure coincidence that my CEL came on AND my entire stereo/time display doesn't work???? No ******* way the vanity mirror light is tied to all that other wiring......WTF? any knowledge or advice??? i hate driving without music or a frickin' clock!!

It's not. I removed my drivers side visor months ago and when i unplugged the visor, nothing what you're describing happened. I just keep my tire pressure guage clipped on to where the visor used to be lol. Check your fuses.

thanks man. i'll have to take a look. just went out to my car to see if it reset...still not working. and to add to it, interior lights don't work at all. also, when i unlock/lock my car, the exterior lights don't blink, although my headlights DO work when i turn them on. must be a blown fuse. are the stereo controls and interior lights connected somehow? it's weird that i can't even power my radio/cd player.

but how is could this be connected to throwing my cel??? i mean, i guess that could be pure coincidence, but damn...haven't had a cel in months...it seems connected somehow.

posted answer in the broken visor post, but i'll put it here too. thanks again for your help ross dawg - it was a blown fuse - not sure why it was related to this happening, but we're all back to normal again!!! well, minus the visor itself!

well i'll be!! blew a fuse...i'm sure this action blew it...but i couldn't tell you why! i think it's fuse 14, the bottom most 15a fuse, but don't quote me, i put my book away. anyway, it's just listed as 'interior lights'...but that same fuse also power the clock/radio display!! replaced that fuse and wha-la, working again. fixing my visor will haven't to wait for a different post

man, i can't believe how you people survive in that heat...

it was only 75 degrees today, but after 10 minutes in the sun, the seats and steering wheels were untouchable..
