I hate TX heat

So I've been living here for a year now (from Chicago) and this heat is ridiculous. I've gone through 2 broken visors in a matter of 1 year because of this heat. One for the drivers and one passenger. I cant believe Mazda designed this piece of plastic junk and expect it to stand in 100 deg weather. Now I have to pay another $100 to replace this part. This part should really be a Recall due to safety issues (falling while driving) and poor designed. Anybody else agree with me? or have the same issues in hot climates? The temp here was 105 deg today but imagine how hot it is inside the car........

Visors are a known issue.

to help, take the visor out of the slot.

That way the force won't break it.

Or you could try some WD 40 to help.

you might look at the DIY on fixing it, seems like it adds a lot of strength to the visor.

WD40 will eat plastic. Pure silicon oil (available from hobby stores) is the best bet.

It certainly is a piece of junk. One way for them to get a stream of parts revenue from the victims/owners out of warranty. I replaced mine recently as my car goes out of warranty here.

Even in not so burning SF area weather, you can tell the visor struggles.

never had a problem with mine(knock on wood) when i was living in FL

man i broke my passenger one a year ago 3 times so i just got an eyebrow now its just fine without one :)

HOLY CRAP BATMAN!!! our car has visors? Dam i'm gonna stop squinting

It's one of the few problems I've yet to have in vegas heat. My car has seen 120+ degree weather on the interior too.

I miss the teas heat I moved to chicago.. I will soon move back i didnt like it here very much. to crowded and i cant drive comfortable.

there is a TSB for the visors - though not sure if your situation is the same or still qualifies . . .

i had mine taken care of no charge (still under warrenty, but there was a TSB).

Some customers may experience the sunvisor broken at the pivot area and the upper and lower parts of sunvisor are split.

I think I'm just gonna take off my other visor for the rest of the summer and wait till the summer is over to buy another one........as a pre-cautionary step........I have a gut feeling my pass visor will soon give in and split apart

texas is indeed hot, ive seen my car tell me its 115 after it has been sitting in sunlight all day.

i havent seen my car read higher then 103 so far

yah tx heat sucks. was in austin for the 4 of july weekend, decided to take my friend and his kids to go watch the fire works, his GF takes her car with her friends. we stopped at a fire work stand on the way (6-8miles drive). once the kids got their fireworks, my car wouldnt start. so we all jumped in my friend gf suv and went to watcht the fire works. figured the car was just running to hot (reading in car showed 107 on the radio display)

came back after the show and my car started right up. guess it was so freaking hot . i ntice when its super hot here my car has a hard time starting, after i drive for a good 10mins+ . even with new battery, coils, and sparks.

hmm i think its tiem for me to change my starter, just notice that i havent changed that out yet.

i havent had the problem (knocks on wood) what i have noticed though is that after i take a drive and turn off my car the radiator fans? stay on for a while.

yep same. i think since i had my car for 5years now, and i dont think mazda ever changed the starter. my problem might be the starter now that i have thought about it. guess next weekend ill change that out. think 68k miles lol is a good time to change it out .

Yea.....116-118 is the hottest I've seen my radio display.....Poor Car and I live in an apt so I have no garage to keep it in

I live here. I did the visor fix because it was broken when I bought the car.

The trick is to NOT USE THE VISOR haha. But seriously, I never do. Why do you need to? Get some good sunglasses.

Get a sunshade to beat the sun when it's parked. Those two things help a lot.

I only use the visor to keep my sun shade up at work and at home....I barely use it for driving and even if I dont use it that metal peice by the pivot joint get so hot that it melts the piece of crap plastic......

Is an old issue , TSB should take care of it . It did for me .....

My basic warranty is well passed (04) so the TSB won't do much for me........
