I Hate Eggs!
so i'm at albert tacos (a really good burrito place in so cal) around 11pm and as soon as i'm finished eating and get out.... i smell eggs... a fowl stench of eggs and to my surprise!!! my carhad been egged! about a dozen eggs! i thought at first it was only about 3 eggs or so but since it was really late at night i drove really FAST to my friends house to hose them off and after im done... i go home and i find out that they put eggs on my exhuast and all over the spoiler (in those hard to get places). THE EXHUAST COOKED THE EGGS AND SMELLS LIKE $#@*!!!! arghhhhhh
sorry im just venting! since it was close to midnight and i hosed my car down there are going to be massive waterspots tomm morning !!! i know i should wipe it down but all my cloths are in the laundry cuz i juss washed it the other day so tomm morning i gotta go get it machine washed somewhere.... i know i shouldnt but thats the only option i have!!
anyone else get egged?
I guess egged isnt as bad as getting keyed, but at least u dont have to have the scent of rotten eggs on you!

Lousy, little, creepy, pathetic people. Give eggs a bad name. Seems like if you have anything nice, they have to come ruin it so at least you won't get to enjoy what they don't have. If it makes you feel any better, it's that stupid attitude that is probably the reason that they can't get ahead and buy their own nice stuff.
Sorry to hear about your cars everybody. Mine is always within sight of my office window thank goodness.
This is going to be one of those posts which doesn't merit a response but in reading the above, one of the posts made me wonder "why would an egg be aggressive toward a painted surface?" And I'm still wondering. The albumin, the white is largely protein. I'm too lazy to look up the contents of the yolk but I'd assume a mix of protein/amino acids/ and poly-saccharides of some sort. The pH of the egg can't be far off neutral--afterall it does sustain life for 21 days.
I'm not saying that eggs don't hurt paint and I'm sure not volunteering to find out on my 8 (although I am renting an SUV this next week for a vacation I'm taking hmmmmmm). Anyway it's not intuitive to me as a chemist why egg would attack a polymeric clear-coat.
Now rotten eggs contain compounds such as hydrogen sulfide that could be acidic. Hydrogen sulfide is very reactive and localized high-concentration environments might mess with clear-coat.
Like I said, there's not much way to repsond to this one but I just had never thought about it in the past... there's not a really good chemical reason that I can come up with as to why eggs are hell on paint.....

I opened the door to my 8 this morning and got this whiff of rotten egg smell coming from the interior. Then i realized I ate some chinese food last nite and must have floated an air biscuit in the car before i got out. damn thing must have festered in there all nite.....
since my egging happend late last night i inspected it this morning and my car was also keyed -____- so i got egged and keyed and i guess he threw the egg pretty damn hard cuz the egg shells chipped the paint
Believe it's actually the egg white that does the damage - which mainly occurs after the sun has baked it onto your paint. Some kids got my wife's car a few years back and I found it when dark. I missed one glob of egg white that had sailed onto the trunk lid, and by the time I saw it the next afternoon, the paint under the egg spot was ruined for good.

Get that car repainted fast before more damage will happen to your car. Don't go through insurance, it's not worth it... it'll just screw up your premiums for awhile.
Also do you keep your car garaged?
<======= Also egged almost a month ago, car was only a month old. Damaged the paint, at least $500 to fix. Also looks like someone took a rock to the fender, but it's not very bad... I just told the insurance it happened the same time, even if it was really a week or so later.
