believe what? that the rx8 is slower?
consider all other cars got much higher price tag and much much more powerful engine on a very big race track, Im not surprised at all.

Imagine if you tuned the rx8 with the $20,000 difference from the msrp of the rx8 and the gt500.
The result would be the fastest car in this section at least 20 seconds.
You could even do a little tuning to match the price of the lancer or evo and you would most likely come out faster than them. Mazda left us with an underpowered engine on one of the best chassis ever built; but it only takes a little tuning and FI to fix that
Now I'm thinking about a $20k mod list ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hh

^ Exactly.
Not all the cars are significantly higher priced. As much as I hated mustangs before, they're really not a bad option, even as a track car. I'd say the most impressive thing about the 8 in that comparison is the fact that it has managed to stay competitive despite the minimal changes that have been made.
I'm actually more surprised the IS-F beat out the GT mustang. I actually expected the GT would have given the IS-F a better run for its money. I'm also surprised the 370z didn't make an appearance.

Really though I don't care how much faster the mustang is, I see them everywhere. More often than not when I see one mustang there is another within a block or 2 of it.
They must only test a car once every few years, the 370z was tested in 2009 and it did 3:12. The mustang gt did 3:13.3 in 2009.
