I badly want this car!

Researched a lot, still have few questions...
Do I buy new or with few miles on it? I can probably save some $$$ if I buy slightly used but I am wondering should I go that route...
Will I fit? I am 6'5" and wondering will there be enough space. Yeah, I will have to push back the seat like with any other car and nobody will be able to sit behind me but I can care less about that. Any tall people here? You feel comfortable in the car?

I plan on buying probably in few months time. 6 speed and appearance package is all I care about. You really can't get better looks and performance for that amount of $$$.

TIA

6'5" may or may not be a tight squeeze. It depends on your leg length and torso height. Everyone is different... Also a moonroof will eat up 1-2 inches of head room inside the car. I also hear that the power seats are slightly taller than the base cloth seats.

As far as slightly used.... I think the car is cheap enough that you can get a new one without having to worry about previous abuse. Factor in that many who are now selling have had their RX-8 for about a year or more, so they likely paid more than invoice. With the discounts Mazda had on the 2004's, you could buy new for what a used one goes for.

Not sure if 2004's are still available. A 2005 should not be too bad, dealer invoice is not out of the question (2-3k under msrp)

I posed a question a month or two ago about being tall, since I was (still kinda am) trying to convince a 6'5" friend to buy one, and some people responded that were like 6'6" and said they fit fine. I'm 6'2" with a 34 inseam and I fit just fine, and my seat isn't all the way back or reclined absurdly far, so I'd assume you'll fit ok. I had my friend sit in it and he said he was comfortable, I think most of the height difference between us in in the legs though

I have the power seat and the sunroof and my baby brother (6'6") fit in it ok. It was a close fit, but he said he was comfortable and would have been fine on a long road trip. I let him drive it around with me all day one Sunday. Although he did have to put the seat all the way back and recline it slightly to keep from hitting his head.

When you figure in the discounts that you can get on a new one along with the lower intrest rates you can get on a new car i think it is a no brainer. Even if you find a new one for 3k more then used the better/more financing options will make it up in the long run. Not to mention the fact that i know how i treat a car on the way to the dealer to trade it in LOL.

IMHO, buy new. Why buy someone else's problems? There's a reason a 1 year old car is on the used lot.

I'm 6'3". I couldn't fit in an '8 with a sunroof. I bought a 6 spd w/sport package and nothing else. Fits me fine.

Good luck.

Nothing wrong with used, thats what warranty is for, I bought mine for 20k with 8000 miles on it, RB exhaust, Espilier springs, white corners, and grills for the coolers included, runs great.

I am 6' 1" and I bought one without the sunroof just for extra head clearance. I would say buy a new one just to make sure the car was broke in properly and not overabused. just me .02

6'-5" might fit, my little borher is 6'-8", and no way, his knees hit the turn signal stalk, and wiper stalk. He could not put his hands at 3 and 9 on the wheel, cause that is where his knee is, and his head hits the roof. he hates riding with me. in the passenger seat, his knees are almost level with the top of the dash, he can not touch the end of the floor board. i am about 6'-2", i have the sunroof, and cloth seats, and fit just fine, not all the way back, and not reclined too much.

LITTLE brother? holy crap. me personally would actually think that 6'5" will not be a tight fit. i'm only 6'1" but i notice that there is a lot of room left. there is enough room to accomodate 4 more inches in my opinion. but to end all questions, just take a test drive.

i call him little, he hates it. habit i guess. everyone usually thinks it is funny as hell, most when he is standing right next to me. he is taller, but weighs 20 pounds less.

If i was 6"5 I wouldn't NOT be driving my rx-8! I've let my taller friends drive it and they are pretty uncomfortable, and they tell me the visibility is poor.

Don't take anyone elses advice if you will fit or not. Just go test drive the thing and see if it feels comfortable. And make sure that they take you on a real test drive, not just up and down the street. I test drove mine and I drove it like it was mine. Plus it helps when the dealer takes you on twisty roads. Nothing is worse than wanting a car sooo bad and then finding out that you aren't comfortable in it.

Hi, 6'3.5" here, fit really well without the moonroof. Fit pretty well, knees are no way near the turn signals. Try it yourself and see
