I just bet..I mean I really do believe somewhere a guy is posting on HIS forum:

"Yeah - and this ******* in a riceburner Mazda nearly caused me to HIT a guy because he wouldn't let me over! I mean, what a *****!"

All this anti-SUV and anti truck posting is retarded.

******** drive EVERY type of car.

in the town where i grew up, the majority of the racing and speeding was done on a large street that also had the police department on it. there are always police cruisers pulling in and out of the station, so smart people keep it under the speed limit in the area. i dont know if it is more exciting to race when you are at risk of getting a ticket or worse, but i dont understand it.

you are probably 100% correct, or if not that, he said "so I destroyed this mazda, and almost hit this guy cuz he did the standard ricer flyby."

and I did drive past him too, because he had to stop because of "jimmy." Drove past him going a full 22 mph.

I completely agree with your second and 3rd statement, the guys in the old "muscle" cars are a bunch of @*(#$% as well. They just dont try to drag race every car that comes across their path.

ohh jeez, I have found that pickup drivers are (on average) the WORST drivers on the road. SUV's also fall into this category a lot.

The worst thing I see them do is drive the same speeds even in crappy weather (snow, ice, rain, ect) it seems like they thing "I drive a big truck, i dont have to slow down for bad weather"

its crazy

It's kinda of instinctual. One assumes a very large and very heavy tank is going to protect better then something significantly smaller.

Well 5th gear ran a crash test between two vehicles of similar price (10,000 uk I believe). An SUV vs a Mini-van in a 40 mph head on collision.

The test results? The SUV driver would have been seriously injured, if not killed, and the child in the back seat took considerable impact stress. Both the driver of the mini-van and the child would have walked away with minor scrapes and bruises.

The difference? The mini-van's crumple zones worked to deflect the impact of the collision around the passenger compartment. The SUV's stiff chassis sent the forces straight through causing quite a large invasion into the passenger compartments.
My brother's wife and their two girls(ages 3 and 2) were broadsided last week in their minivan. The minivan rolled a couple of time and was totaled. Nobody was hurt.

Speaking of big trucks, has anyone else noticed that semi's seem to be running more and more red lights in terms of distance?

By that I mean, the light turns yellow while they are like 150 ft away going 35 and they still gun it.

It seems to be getting worse and worse here, anymore when my light turns green I have to check to see if a semi is comming.

I dont have a problem with any specific makes or models (except the ford mustang, but that is a different reason) but I do with the insane drivers that seem to frequent big trucks.

I've noticed the exact same thing. It's like they think the laws of nature don't apply to them. Pickup drivers > Nature

Prescription: I see people -- semis and everybody else -- run red lights just about every morning on the way to work. Which is why I never ride my motorcyle during rush-hour traffic. People are in too much of a hurry, or they're talking on cell phones, eating breakfast, putting on their makeup, or reading the morning paper -- while driving!

Some people act like what their car can do is what they can do, like it is some statement on their self worth or something. Never made much sense to me.

I have no problem with SUV's if the person needs something that big for whatever they do. And there ARE some SUV drivers who know their vehicle's handling and braking limits and drive accordingly.

What I do have a problem with is people who think they are driving the safest vehicle (I just can't call them cars) on the road and, believing they are immune, drive without any consideration for other motorists.

We seem to have less of an aggressive redneck problem in Australia but it does happen.

I hate those lifted pickups, all they're doing is raising the center of gravity by a lot without gaining any real clearance. if they run over someone that person is more likely to get wrapped around the drive shaft than splattered on the bumper, and if you happen to rear end them you'll end up with his axle in your radiator.

then you also have the guys that remove the front bumper and install that big diamond plate that slopes from the grill down towards the oil pan... like that is good for much more than making sure roadkill is more dead when you hit it... or johnny boy...

Many state's highway patrols post their cell phone access numbers on signs. When you see dangerous behavior, report it. There is nothing more gratifying than seeing a highway terrorist getting ticketed a few miles up the road.

Let's put the blame where the blame is due, not where liberals want to put it, which is on everything else but the cause of the problem .

A. The truck shouldn't have been racing. Doesn't matter what car YOU drive.

B. The guy shouldn't have been publicly intoxicated in the middle of the road.

Let me kind of get back to my real question, which I didn't phrase correctly at all.

Do you think that the appearance of sports cars makes other drivers (no matter what they drive) feel like they "have something to prove to them"?

Like if I had been driving the minivan, do you think that I would have been "challenged?"

(910 views and 41 replies, everyone probably got excited by the title, then came in and saw an obliterating dissapointment)

lol your post just made my day.

I got my licenses for like 2 almost 3 years. and from time to time I saw quite alot of crazy Truck Drivers. but I think SUV drivers were alot worst.

They shall all be killed so we can take their car (for me, I will sell it so I can upgrade my 8 hahaha)

I think it's called natural selection.

As to the rephrased question - well, that's a no brainer isn't it? Of course the appearance of a sports car stimulates racing activity. It's the same reason why people pick a fight with guys who look tough - it's all about proving your manhood or something or other.

I don't mind the odd hard takeoff when I'm on my own - it's fun to hear the beep but I leave TLGP's to the insecure.

^^ and to the retarded.

I normally wouldn't mind, but that time the stupid bastard almost killed somebody. And I wonder if I would have been involved in the resulting lawsuit.

Possibly, but only as a witness unless the US legal system is much worse than I think it is.

I slowly move into first and continue on my way, He keeps looking in his right side rear view mirror to see if I am racing him I guess, and he fails to notice a drunken pedestrian (let's call him jimmy) wondering across the street. I see "Jimmy" about half a second before the truck does, and the truck slams on his brakes, barely missing the guy. "Jimmy" then makes a half drunken kick at the truck and stumbles to the curb. The truck almost killed him because of "street racing" and I didn't even race him, wtf? I wonder if I had been driving the minivan if this would have happened.
Its not your car (Mazda RX-8) it was the a$$ hole in the "Bucket" that for all we know was intoxicated with alcohol too.
