how much stupid can one thread have?
I was reading on a Ford Svt forum because I got linked to a post there and decided I would search "mazda" and see what came up.
Sorry if I'm not allowed to link other forums, but it is not a competing forum with this one, its about mustangs and the like.

Heres some of the best parts.
I thought about posting because it was a recent thread, but you cant argue with people that special.

They gotta be warmed up for at least 10 mins before taking off or you flood the motor...
They do burn oil. If you just crank it to move it you have to rev it above 3K i think it was for 3 min or it will flood and not crank. Trust me, if you get one, be religious to that.
They die out for no reason. In stop and go traffic be extremely careful. We stalled out on the interstate during rush hour traffic before in the middle lane (shitty feeling having cars haul *** around you) took 10 minutes to get it cranked again then died out again before we got back home.

Well I think of mustang owners in general as being jackasses and arrogant ********, but its not all of them I guess. Never been a big fan of mustangs mostly because you see them every few blocks when your driving.
I just couldn't believe the amount of crap being talked about this car there. Some of what they said was true, other bits it was like they had never even seen an rx8 but were talking like they owned one.
A little over a year ago I honestly didn't even know what a rotary engine was lol. Then I saw this car and loved the looks and went about learning about them.

I needed a good laugh.
I always considered Mustangs as the Civics of America (some are fast, most are not), especially before 2003. I only ever respected the Cobra model. Most are just v-6's wishing they were something better.
The v8's got some speed, but at what cost? A ugly/cheap interior? Handling like a station wagon? And it's main competition (Firebirds/Cameros at the time) Destroyed them easily. And then there is that "FORD" badge you have to tool around with.... sheesh embarrassing.
I do think the "Newer" stangs (04-09?)have improved all around but the Newest model looks 100% chick mobile.

Honestly they weren't as bad as I thought. A lot of disinformation based on rumors, but most of it was just knocking on the lack of torque and and how it would get "walked" by most cars. What do you expect from Mustang owners? They are the very foundation of the American go-fast-in-a-straight-line mentality, thats all they really care about. At least some of them acknowledged the great handling.

As a previous mustang owner I know how easy it is to get sucked up into the mentality. It wasn't so much the straight line speed. It was the torque that got me. It's great all that power hitting the back wheels as you spin. However the story has a happy ending. I got a prelude sh for a cheap little car. Has decent handling and that got me started. Found the 8 with its great handling and haven't looked back since. BTW the body style you mean didn't start till 05.

I actually don't think the first page is that bad. I've seen way worse, and for a SVT forums that's not really that bad. About half of the forum members actually know somewhat about the car, obviously mainly it's short comings but they they got the some facts straight. Ive seen worse on a Saturn Ion forums. Lol now that was funny... Like they have room to talk.

Former mustang owner.
Current Rx8 owner.
Possible future mustang (2011+) owner.
The torque is addictive. I've tracked both of them, and although my mustang ('02 gt) was sloppy around the corners, in the straights it just took off.
Outran my buddy in his rx8 around a pretty curvy track (i had more track experience, so, grain of salt) I hopped in with him for a lap and that's when I fell in love with the handling of the rx8. It felt precise, whereas my mustang felt like skiiing around the corners.

Some of it is BS. You really have to beat on the 8 hard to get speed but that is the appeal of it. Redlining the car is even part of the maintanance. You do that to any car, it'll flake out fast. If you take good care of it and redline the car often, the car will come back for more. Their are easier engines to get power out of though. That is true. Anyone who says the rx8 is souless and has no torque doesn't know anything. Ugly maybe, haaa. Souless, no way.

I get the same **** from my buddies. I hang out with the local Syclone/Typhoon owners. Those guys are the defacto definition of straight line acceleration addicts. 500+ft/lbs of torque available to launch in an AWD package creates ridiculous acceleration. They don't turn so great though being early '90s small pickup chassis. In the stoplight to stoplight world there isn't much that can touch them.
I'm a firm believer that the RX line of cars is not for everyone. You need to love the alternative technology and the "feel" of the car, otherwise it's shortcomings quickly catch up with you. Much like the Sy/Ty's there is a TON of misinformation out there about them. It too is entertaining from time to time!

I get a big smile when I'm next to a prius just thinking how funny it is they are trying their best to "save the world" and here I am in a car that's getting 16mpg Really it just evens out as if we were both driving a car getting 25-28 mpg, so they lose.
I love the rx8 for how it handles, that's how my last car was. It didn't handle as good as this but its handling was above its straight line performance. I really would like to get a nice car to build up as a drag car though, I find that to be great fun.

Fact - building a prius does more damage to the environment than driving just about anything else every day.
So what if they have low emissions, the resources and logistics it takes to build one far outweigh any positive environmental aspect of owning one. If all these snarky jackassess really wanted to save the world they'd stop driving altogether, move somewhere where it's not habitated and live off the land or something.
I'm tired of people telling me howwonderful those cars are, they're average at best, and have no soul or personality whatsoever.
The 8 is not for everybody, Mazda doesn't know how to market worth a shizzle, when's the last time you saw a Mazdaspeed 3 or 6 commercial? Then they put "rx" in front of it, which automatically meant it was the "next great rx thing", despite them saying repeatedly it was not a 7 replacement, everyone and their dog assumes it is, finds out it's not quite as fast as the 3rd gens, then proceeds to bash it or whatever. Then there'e the reliability issues, the misprinted HP numbers etc, car is a recipe for trolling.
When all is said and done, it's still a fabulous car, and fabulously misunderstood, which is fine as I get it, I understand it, I like it, and I plan on keeping mine a while regardless of what a bunch of clueless lemmings post on various message boards.

sure its small displacement but the room it takes in the engine bay is alot.
