I have zero interest in ever figuring out what i've spent or plan on spending on my car. I spend for things i want, and when i get them it makes me happy. That's the whole reason to spend money on a daily driver to begin with.

I added it up once but stopped at $18k or so in an effort to save myself from anger

Upgrades??? Hummm does that also mean what I spent because Mazda voided my warranty (due to mods)? More than I care to talk about (my wife may read this).

I've only had the car for 4 months.. So takeing things slowly.

And over the winter I'm budgetting about 3500....

 

Back in 04 the local dealer told me to leave his shop as he did not want modded cars in his place of business and not to come back. (all I wanted was a flash that was offered as a fix and even offered to pay for it) I tried to get Mazda to get him to at least do the flash but they told me they did not control the dealers........any way he then put me in the computer as a voided warranty due to engine mods........

 

Myself I have not upgraded anything yet. But then again I just got the car so I'm sure I will be joining the club soon. Winter time is coming soon, will probaly do multiple mods over the winter.

None. The point of buying a good car like the rx8 is, it already comes with all upgrades from the factory.

There is also a difference between an upgrade and a lateral modification.

An upgrade is a higher quality of leather, etc. A modification is really what people are doing here.

Almost everything I've done to my car has been an upgrade
Koni adjustable struts over the soft OEM Tokicos
Racing Beat Intake: much better CAI system then the OEM and its vfad
RP Supercat: much better flow then the OEM
Axial Flow Short Shifter: definite upgrade
Wheels / Tires: hell, the Toyo T1R's alone are an enormous upgrade over the POS Potenzas.
Infinity Kappa: light years ahead of the crappy Bose system my "Grand Touring" came with.
