Angry How did this happen?

I came out of my night class and noticed the below damage to my Eight, WTF!!!

It almost like someone tried to jack the car up but the wrong way. I have not hit anything and it was not there yesterday. How the heck did this happen? I wonder how much this is going to set me back?

Not that I know of, I'm a pretty easy going guy. I don't have any enemies.

Wow, I feel pretty stupid. I looked at some pics when I bought the car and guess what? The damage was already on the Eight.

I wonder how much it is going to cost me to fix it. I might as well have the rear bumper done at the same time since there is a scratch (I knew about this one).

I feel so embarrassed, I did not see something like that. It is pretty hard to see unless you are looking but still. The factory side skirts might cover that! I did a search on e-bay and found these. Maybe someone has a set for sale that are cheaper.

What ever you do dont buy those from ebay. Those are way over priced. You might want to look up length of the areo flare to see if it will cover the dent up. I bought a whole areo set for $150, that included front air dam, areo flares (side skirts),and front mud flaps.

It looks like it creased most of the rocker. The aero flares will cover then large dent most likely, but probably won't fit right because of the crease.

I will have to drill some pilot holes and pull the dent out or just have a body shop do this and install the side flares. I am going to get a quote to see how much it will cost just repair what is there.

Thats tough man.

Is this a load-bearing structure? Will this affect your handling?

i got damage in that area fixed for about 1k on both sides, has to be repainted but luckily for you there is a seam in the clear coat in that area that separates the rocker from the rest of the body

I have no idea. I looked over the car real well before I bought it; at least I thought I did. I checked the oil, did a compression test. I guess I was more concerned with the mechanics than the ascetics. Fail on my part!

That sucks. You fail, you get 10 RX-8 club damarets.

Don't feel too bad. When I got mu used 40th AE I also overlooked a couple of things. Granted, mine were "minor" bumper scratches, lol.

But like you, I was also more concerned with getting a compression test done.

Hope you can fix it soon. Perhaps this is a good excuse to go ahead and get a more aggressive body kit

I'm planning on getting some OEM side flares as sooon as I save up the money, along with new headlamps.

If I get 50, do I get a free compression test?

Looks like someone didn't clear a jackstand well enough away before lowering the car.

Try PDR if the paint is still good.

I wouldn't fret about it. Very few will notice or care unless you point it out. Even you missed it.

That's rough. I hope that dent was factored into the price... Did you get a good deal on it? I noticed some scratches on my 8 that had been covered up by touch up paint. I only discovered them when I waxed it and some wax was left in the scratches. It just makes you feel a little duped...
