LOL! I'll agree with that, but just out of curiousity, can anyone find sales information in the same year for both the STI and the RX-8? I would like to see where the sales accually are.

When it was compared to a motorcycle, that's when. Read the post seymore is referring to.

Still, i haven't seen any of my buddies who ride call an sti "slow". Sure the average sport bike would eat it up, but by that reasoning, you could call a veyron slow by comparing it to those funny cars. Let's compare only apples here.

no... comparing an STI to an rx8 would be like comparing fuji apples to another companies. they're both apples, just some people prefer the tastes of one over another. anyways, enough apple talk! i'm getting hungry

you know what?! i destroyed the FDs and other 7s going over the grapevine thats why we got seperatedD:D You remember it was hot? Well the FD 7 guys were all worried about over heating if they put too much load on their cars going up there. Some had heat issues esarlier. The earlier 7s just couldnt keep up. I just blew up up and thru the Grapevine with no issues what so ever. It was a blast to blaze up there:D I ended up put putting along for 5 minutes or more before i saw the next 7 guy come up.

FDs are wickedly fast but really uncomfortable. I wish the 8's packed more punch, but at the end of the day I'm still happier w/ the 8...

sti_eric and many of the other "realists" here are actually offering real information. I don't think you guys should let your fanboism blind you.

I am in love with my 8. I've even gotten strange looks from my passengers as I pat my dash and talk to my car like it can hear me. I really. Seriously. Unhealthily love my car.

With that said, the RX8 is not fast. In fact, I think someone on this forum put it best when he said: "Makes a lot of noise, revs up like a beasts, and paces the sedan next to you".

<shrug> It's true. When I feel like having some fun, I often will get a little aggressive and rev the engine out. More often than not, I'm not really outpacing traffic that much. This really reflects those C&D numbers posted above. Is it possible to make the car fast by dumping the clutch and treating it like ****? Yes. Is it realistic? No.

So what? Just relax. Your car isn't your life, it's a damned toy. Have some fun with it and stop obsessing over justifying your expenditure. If someone starts going on about your car sucking, it's entirely irrelevant. Stop letting other people determine your enjoyment of your vehicle. It's like we've devolved into 5 year olds.

I own a modified FD (btw they average 14.0, there have been many 13.5's) and have test driven the RX-8 several times... The 8 is far superior to the 7 in ergonomics, comfort, ease of driving hard, quietness, smoothness and an overall feel of a more solid car.

The FD moves, feels and sounds like a race car while at the same time giving a sense of fragility. It is also more nervous in its moves, you have to pay more attention when driving it hard. IMO it is also better looking and attracts more looks from strangers, which makes me more paranoid.

If I could afford it I would have an RX-8 as a daily driver while keeping the FD for special occasions. And I would drag, track, autox and drift BOTH of them!
