My friend suggested that hotter plugs would reduce the chance to flood but I don't see how really. I thought it was about enigne and fuel temperature, not spark temp.

Anyone know?

I seen someone mention that last night on this board but cannot find it. I think it was the thread were the guy intentionally flooded the car before a test drive

 

A higher temperature plug doesn't mean that the spark is hotter. The hotter/colder plugs are those whose electrodes (mainly the center electrode) reach a higher/lower temperature under normal operating conditions. The plug temperature has more to do with preventing fouling and detonation while running, and won't help to purge raw, unatomized fuel in a cold engine.

I agree, the hotter plug shouldn't make the engine less prone to flooding.

C'mon guys. The hotter plugs are offered FOR FREE by Mazda for those who drive under conditions that are conducive to flooding - low speed driving or cold weather. If you flood your car, bring it in for warranty service and make the right demands (after all, by reading this forum you are properly educted), you will get the hot plugs. Check the TBSs. The hotter plugs, in theory, stay a bit cleaner and are thus a bit less likely to be fouled beyond recovery when you flood the engine. Sounds good in theory, don't know if it actually works. But give Mazda a little bit of credit, please.
