I had to have my back bumper completely replaced, that cost $650 or so. Just repainted would be probably... $200-300, probably closer to 300. Of course, like you mentioned, your car will be in the shop and you'll need a rental (make sure his insurance takes care of that, too). I would push to just get a new exhaust shroud... mine was re-used and it's now popping off a little bit, like yours is showing. In fact, due to that... I'd push for just a whole new bumper and shroud from his insurance. Despite the fact it can be repainted, there's probably some damage to where the shroud hooks in, and it'll never be 100% again without a new one.

Happened to me in a parking lot last year. Good news is that a brand new OEM rear bumper, unpainted, is only two or three hundred bucks. (Imagine what it would cost if this was a German car.)

Exactly, i had to get one of these replaced as well as the larger middle section. Ur not in too bad of shape man. Be aware though depending on how faded the rest of your underskirt is (3total pieces), the new one may look out of place (darker/newer) compared to the two other pieces. When my rear bumper/underskirt was damaged, the repair place replaced everything except for the right side shroud (was only piece undamaged). Mine is an 04 so the underskirt was faded a bit and next to the brand new pieces the one shroud looked shitty and faded. I bitched about it and they replaced it with a new one to match the rest.

Hard to tell from the picture, but do the scratches penetrate through the paint to bottom layer? Looks like surface deposits which are similar to ones I get from autocrossing and hitting cones. A good cleaning compound will take it off with some buffing. Then you can decide if it needs to be repainted.

Some turtle Wax Bug and Tar removal will take those scratches off your bumper. Someone hit me the other day...but in the parking lot. And ran...probably some redneck with a 92 Beretta or something. Anyway...the rear fascia may need to be replaced or refitted. Damage is minimal though.
If its their fault though...get the check from their insurance....fix it yourself....and buy a new lip kit...or exhaust...or rent.

Get estimates to replace the bumper & shroud. Have the insurance company pay that amount. Take check and decide what you want to do: a quick fix that will likely look fine, or an nice new aftermarket bumper.
Good luck!

well theyre turning around and blaming it on me now..initially they agreed to pay out of pocket but now its going through the insurance.fact remains, i tried making a right turn-he tried slowing down while in back of me-he couldnt so he drove right into me.
MAZDA supposedly quoted a price of $275 for the shroud and $300 for the bumper.im going to try to get them to replace the whole thing....i dont need any problems with it in the future.the damage is a bit more than just "surface deposites"and he also popped out the rear quarter panel.

^ I would never have guessed.
Please, please tell us you were smart enough to have a cop come to the accident scene.
It shouldn't matter since they obviously rear-ended you, but it's always best. Talk to some local owners (or anyone locally that has a nice body kit) about what shops in your area are the best. TAKE IT TO ONE OF THEM! Find the best and go there - your Mazda dealer is most likely going to farm the work out. Very few actually do body work on the premises (and frankly, why would you let them?)
