High mileage and maintenance questions
I just accepted a job where I'll be commuting 105 miles a day not including client visits. About 90 miles of this will be highway.
Two questions:
Anyone been putting this kind of mileage on their car?
What kind of maintenance requirements do you see from the wear & tear?
Thx for any input....

Maintenance requirements are the same no matter how you drive your car, at least for street use. I think I'd be more concerned about putting over 26000 miles a year on my car, that's when it sounds like time for a second to use as a daily driver. But otherwise, just keep your oil changed when you should and you'll be ok.

I would assume tires and topping off oil more than usual.
Tires would seem the biggest thing since our tires are low profile and some of the tires have low treadwear ratings like 280-300.

He's as bad as Can
My round trip to work is 80 miles. I now have 98,000 miles on my 8. I gas up twice a week. Change my oil it seems every 5 weeks. The car gets dirty fast so there will be more washes. I have had no major issues with my car. Go for it, add on the miles. Next month I will hit 100,000 and will post my complete maintenance history so stay tuned.

If you were so inclined, you could drop oil changes to a 7500 mile interval. Highway driving is the easiest kind of driving on a car. Fewer cold starts, less clutch use per mile, etc.
Those million mile cars you hear about every now and then usually belong to travelling salesmen who are on the highway all day.

Cool, thx for the info all.
Already running Conti all-season Extreme Contacts and Amsoil, so I'm pretty particular on oil & tires... here's to "happy trails" in my 8.....
