HID Headlight Kit
HID Headlight Kit
Hey guys I don't have the HID lights on my 8 and I really love them. I see these kits on ebay and other places that are just "plug and play" has anyone used these and if you have do they work? thanks
I'm using the one from ebay right now. The cheap one.... Any how it's not that hard to hook up. I really took my time and it turn out to be around 1hr 30min. That's just me really taking my time along with a beer.
I got a aftermarket kit and it was pretty easy to install took me 30 mins total verry little room to work with even less on the passenger side but once i mounted them it was all worth it. ill advise not to get a cheap kit get one that is known and do your own investigation last thing you need is a cheap kit burning up your wiring system
alright....so u guys do like it....i'm not worried about puttin it in.....that will be easy.....i'm a mechanic and trained in electric.........not the first electrical just wanted to make sure it is worth it.......thanks alot guys anymore comments will me much appreciated
Also, the bulb is the H7 correct i never got an owners manual with my 8 and just wanted to make sure b4 i order? Thaks alot

If you search in the Electrical section of this website, you will find several places to buy for HID kits.
They are not hard to install, in fact, the hardest part is finding a good mounting point for the ballast.
I would stay away from to high of a Kelvin rating, for visibility sake.
I owned a 2000 Mecury Cougar before my RX-8 and bought an HID kit for the car.
The bulbs I purchased were rated at 9000k. THese bulbs where VERY cool at night, but the lighting was poor from my vantage point.
I ended up buying another set of bulbs(from the same place) that had a Kelvin rating of 6500k. MUCH better and still cool loooking!
Good Luck!

Only buy name brand HID kits, I got a couple used osram gen 5 ballast and d1s bulbs for $50 total on ebay. The chinese stuff is junk and will not make it a year.
Don't get anything over 6000Kelvin, they will just be too blue and actually hurt vision.
