SWEET. that happened to me once or twice in my 8 also- just not consistently.

the 8 seems very sensitive to how you shift. higher rpms always = crappier mpg. w/ my bmw tho, i consistently get at least 350 miles per tank regardless whether i shift at 3k rpm or 5k+. <shrugs>

 

I used to get 21mpg when I traveled 40 miles one way to work all highway. Now that I take the bus I get 18 or so. Of course my driving habits are a bit different...

 

are u guys kidding me??? the highest i got was 180miles on a full tank of gas. i wish i could get at LEAST 250miles!!

I geet 260 miles at least on a tank- I've gotten over 300 several times, and like Stingray, was driving mostly with the cruise set around 80.

 

my highest was 300.5 lowest was yesterday at.....drum roll please.....a whopping 170!!

yeah, the same thing happened to me this weekend! i got 300 miles and i still had 1/8 of the tank left. and the crazy thing is i was driving all back roads, lots of traffic lights, and mph changes constantly from 25 to 35 to 50, i was so surprised!

 

oh yeah, and i also have an automatic!

 

I add a bucket of blue steam at every fill up. Since then I've gotten at least 460 km out of every tank.
You can find buckets of blue steam at your local auto store.
You must make sure it's blue steam and don't let the sales person try and talk you into red steam because that's a scam you must insist on blue. (Blues faster)

 

I'm going to call Mazda tomorrow and ask if they want me to bring it down....will tell you how it goes

I called them to ask about an exhaust...the single muffler is louder correct>?

anyways, I asked them what the average fuel economy for an 8 is, he tells me 15-18, i ask him if there might be something wrong with my car, because it was getting around 21 mpg...

His responce was, "Most people who own these cars drive them like sports cars, you must not be driving like it is supposed to be driven."

I was like wtf, he did just say that lol
