I hope the admins don't delete this thread. I loved it. Even a Corvette owner in my office got the point of your original post.

Don't let the humor impaired get you down.

Cars with cylinders are referred to as reciprocating-piston engines. The Wankel is a rotary-piston engine. Rotor seals are the equivalent of piston rings in a normal engine. Just FYI...
It depends on who you ask. Take this guy for example:

Of course let's not forget that when most think of a rotary piston engine, they think of these:

You noticed that he has never stated that it is the RX8 he is talking about getting worked on. Maybe you should ask that question....

I never said it was my 8 why do people here think it was my 8? Now I understand all the comments and jokes and yelling kicking and screaming.

All RX-8s come with pistons configured in opposing pairs. They're kinda small but there's a lot of force behind them. So it is perfectly correct to say that the RX-8 is an all-wheel, powered-piston car.

These little pistons do an awesome job of changing the car's velocity.

Velocity is also the change of direction. So the tires and steering wheell also do an awesome job of changing the cars velocity.

I was considering buying an RX-8, but after this I'm not sure. Can I really trust an automaker that sometimes forgets to put in the pistons?

You want them in sets of two. Go for 4, or 6.

Remember, 5 is an odd number.

There are five(5) cylinder cars out there.... Audi for one. I think VW makes one.

"equivalent" is not the same as "equals". On a fish, the gills are equivalent to lungs, but gills are not lungs.

"Well" he said, "the transmission provides enough torque to move forword like you had pistons, but not much. Your noise is the transmission doing all the work because you dont have pistons". Soo confused I asked him how this happend and he said that all cars have pistons, the dealer just sold me a lemon. So its in the shop now getting 5 pistons put in.

Thank god I caught that mistake. Dealer goona pay for that... letting me drive on transmission power... shesh.

2006 Rx8 Shinka Convertible 0-60 @ 9.8 m/s/s when falling

Dude, that is the slowest Rx8 Shinka Convertible ever. You may want your mechanic to run some carb gunk-out while you're at it.

And I saw your mechanic perusing this site in preparation to fix your car:

Naw it goes 144mph. I checked, which is why I ruined my 6th gear of my transmission. So maybe the problem is that everyone's not using their transmission power which is where the 50 extra hp comes from.
