I would like to know the phone number to this shop, so that I can ask them myself what it would cost to install pistons in my RX-8.

I'll record the phone conversation.

He did loan me his 72 ford pickup so I dont have to take the bus. Its not bad, but its a faded green color so its kinda ugly. Oh well I guess I cant change my mind and take it to another mazda dealer instead. Thanks guys for your support! If only I could access this site from home I might have caught him in time.
If nothing else, you have a strange skill of making something so retarded actually sound feasible.....or at least possible

On topic: can I use some of the pistons of a CRX in the RX8 ? Then I could possibly use the cams too, so I could add some serious VTEC puwah to my little triangle thingies

If you are not joking your mech is taking you for a ride.

I called his shop today and asked him why I should have 5 and not an even number as you guys suggested. He said because most foren cars do not folow american standards which is why they sound different. Mazda uses 5, farrari (ewe spelling) uses 9, porshe 5 *SC'ed, and he named a few others. I asked him if this has happened before (emplying has mazda forgot to put in the pistons) and he said yes which is why he doesnt work on mazda usualy. Since business is slow, he gave me a discount of $100 and agreed to help me out. He is even checking to make sure there was no transmission torque loss due to the stress I put on it. He said its possible I could have damaged the ablility to shift into 6th but will know after he installed all 5 pistons and connected them to the mid-link. (ps. what is a mid-link?). So anyway, after parts and labor (parts being free from mazda I hope) it comes to $499.95 + tax, which isnt bad. I dont get a loner though so im stuck on the bus.

Since I know you guys will ask, I got the brand name of Piston hes using
5 Pistons + Installation $499.95 DenGran Quality Mazda Parts.
Mid-Link Connection $29.95
New Cables + Installation $79.95
Discount $100
Nope that's not right, it should be far more expensive. You had better send me all your money so I can fly out there and fix it right.

........no seriously

This is the most ridiculous waste of a thread I have seen in awhile. This should not be in the "RX8 Discussion" area, its not even good enough for the "Lounge"!

Ok, this joke is lame. No one would leave their car under those curcimstances. Also, how would he know it did not have pistons unless he pulled the motor and took it apart. Why would anyone take a car that should be under warranty to a shade tree mechanic? I don't even let anyone other than the dealer change my oil.

This should have been in lounge.

Fine, I'll play along. Hows this for a contribution: You are a complete moron if you are having this done to your car and the only one who looks stupid is you. Why dont you just wad up your cash and flush it down the toilet? Its the same thing.

I would take your car out of the shop, put it up fpr sale, buy a Honda and disappear.......no offense.

Ya I guess. I figured the admins would have deleted the post, but it was just a bit of humor in the middle of "new engine, mazda failing, low MPG,..." threads.

And I get my 8 back thursday. Yes I actualy took it to that mechanic to have something unerneath looked at just so I could take pictures and say it was there. If anyone calls him he might say its there, but since you dont know my name, he most likely wont say.

And this ford truck loaner does indead suck. If it wasnt the mechanic's I would take it off road and enjoy it at least a little bit.
