Personal opinion always comes in to play when getting mods for a car.

Search around a little bit and see what you like.

And if you want torque, look elsewhere.

the 8 sticks out SEXY style!!! definitely a neck breaker, but as far as power, it isnt no EVO or even a Z,but is its a different kinda car and FUN as f*ck. as far as mods and sh*t like that theres a vendor section, your already a member here and im pretty sure the vendors dont mind giving you a hand....good luck.

Kinda doubt it needs a turbo

But on a more serious note, spend some money on even better suspension setup and tell the street racers to meet you on a curvy road

when i comes to the 8 dont expect it to be some honda, mods dont necassarily come cheap, also dont expect much gain either....~300 for intake ~600 exhaust, short shifter ~250, rims ~ 1000 tires~900, authentic body kits ~ 1200....plus tint, then gas and oil changes + oil.....then also car care products... t/c and s/cs between ~3k and 9k...

You can all but forget beating any friend in a street race in the 8 unless they are absolute TARDS! . It's not what it's built for, and even a turbo is not going to get you much whp...but can get you into a lot of trouble mechanically/warranty.

..If you want a sexy sleek ride, that will turn heads for as long as you have it, then buy it. As far as Mods, search the mulitmedia threads, general tech threads among others. The vendors for alot of these mods are at the top of the home page.

GL.

short shifter reduces throw on your shifts, and trust me, you WILL DEFINITELY SEE A DIFFERENCE,....again aftermarket parts can be purchased through the vendor part of the forum, we got some good vendors here on the forum more then willing to give us more than reasonable prices for aftermarket parts....and if you cant find what your looking for DONT be afraid to ask, someones ALWAYS willing to give advice and point you in the right direction.

if it's your first car, then u should be happy that u'r getting a car as unique as the rx-8. and, stop being so greedy and ambitious and foolish. focus on learning how to be a safe driver and how to care for and maintain the rotary engine. owning a unique car like the rx-8 will turn heads in and of itself.

that said, if and when you're 25+ and more mature, then maybe u can start look at getting something bigger, better, and/ or upgrading the engine.

not to rain on your parade, but if u r a teenager or in your early 20's, nationwide statistics show that u will be either totaling this car or getting into a severe accident within the first 5 years of ownership. the odds are not in your favor.

so forget the mods and forget trying to show off and take a safe driving course or two first. and, enjoy the car safely and live to zoom zoom another day.

Like others have said, don't expect mods to do a whole lot, as the car is built very well from the factory. Further, the RX-8 is built as an Autocross racer, NOT a straight line car. So as far as showing up all of your Fast-and-the-Furious-10-second-car-wannabe friends, look elsewhere, please.

Oh, going FI costs anywhere from $5k - $10k. There is NO 'cheap HP' mod for the 8.

we don't condone street racing here on this forum anyways if you are looking for a head turner and a unique car then the rx8 is perfect stock it is very sharp looking. As far as "straight line" speed the 8 is not meant for that kind of speed. I would point you away if you're looking for a "10 second" car. Mods can cost u anywhere from 40 bucks up to abut 10,000 depending on what u get.

You meant to say they go to legally sanctioned events or have track days where they compare times . . . . right?

People have became so dependent on technology these days. I know technology keeps you safe. But at the same time.......have you ever thought about how people drove 10 - 20 years ago?? 90% of cars didn't have traction control or ABS..or all other safety shitt....but majority of peeps survived thru the era.......

I'm not saying he should turn these safety features off, but just cuz you don't have ABS or DSC doesn't necessarily mean you're going to crash and die.... In my opinion, it all depends of the driver....how he/she drives.......technology just keeps you a bit safer..that's all.

If you drive like a maniac, no safety features can save you.......

My dad has been driving this 92 toyota corolla with no ABS, no power steering, no traction control and no side air bags for 16 years and never got in any kind of accident and he's still alive....and still driving it....LOL so...what do you guys think of that??

So whenever you go out and drive, think of yourself as the most affective safety feature cuz you're the one who's making it all happen... Just don't drive recklessly or race..

Because it controls your traction... if you lose it, it will save you. No matter what the age, I'd say wait till you get the car and enjoy it for what it is for a while (at least a few months) before you consider doing anything performance wise... I guess there's no harm in looks and such since that's all taste, and in most cases, not a safety issue (assuming it's not a stupid mod).
