Mazda played the same **** on me when I was on vacation early this year. I had to replace the transmission ($4000) since I was one thousand miles away.

Transmission lost 3rd, (aka no gear), and 1st and 2nd weren't right, and it would stay locked into 4th.

Transmission was full a metal pieces.

Before I went on the trip I took it to two different dealers, and my local mechanic. Local mechanic could hear a weird noise from transmission, but the dealers couldn't. One of the dealer didn't even have a mazda tech work on it, they had a VW tech and said he was a mazda one. The other dealer had it for over a month (off and on), and sweared after many tests drives it was alright. The also claimed the transmission was under warranty, and I had nothing to worry about.

Mazda denied the warranty without evening opening the transmission becuase of pior abuse (of previsious owner). No consession was made for the fact I was complaining of sounds from the transmission for months.

After many long hours on the phone with dealerships, MNAO, and lawyers. I figured it was not worth my time. I feel I have easliy prevent in excessive of $4000 in PROFIT (not sales) from those two dealers just by word of mouth. People where I work won't even go to one dealership after hearing some of the insane conversation that too place.

I would suggest getting everything document, if they dont document, write it down yourself. Look up how to take a case to small claims court and tell everyone you know about your experiences. In my mind this kind of service needs to stop, and the easiest way is with the wallet.

One of the reasons I tend to NOT do mods while my car is under warranty is because it increases the chances that the dealer will give me trouble if something goes wrong with my car—even if the mods have nothing to do with it.

I'm not saying the dealer is right to refuse warranty, and I'm not saying Mazda and the dealer won't ultimately take care of you—but I'm not at all surprised they're giving you a hard time. For me, it's just not worth the trouble.

Remember, You know that you're right, and you know that they're wrong.

So whats the matter? Dont let them scare you off.

You dont need to raise your voice or anything, just keep talking, annoy the **** out of them. Remember you are the RIGHT side.

No fear.

Well, they didn't give me a letter that said "this won't void your warranty" or anything. But I did get a service receipt that shows the installation of the Royal Purple gearbox and differential oils. The service manager simply said "It's a higher-quality product than what we have, it has the same viscosity and a higher service rating than the stock product. No problems at all with that."

I think a lot of it has to do with dealing with a dealership that understands and appreciates the RX-8 customer.

Good luck.

Seen this dog and pony show. Many times over 2 years. They are a real JA! If it makes you feel any better, I had to come out another grand to get my car right. Long story. PM me if you want to know more.

If they find out you have a flash you are screwed.
If the find out you put synthetic in it you are screwed.(Depending on the dealer) I know Russel mazda has specificaly stated they will void any warrenty if they find synthetic was used. They even had Mazda NO back them up in one specific case.

You are screwed anyway. If I had to describe how MNA help me:
If I was drowning, they would be an anchor.

Didn't he say "second gear"? This is a known Mazda problem. They have new parts to address the shift fork. Ask them to verify they used the new parts.

ooh oooh i forgot to mention what the MAIN service manager told me! he said "DONT TELL ANYONE" but f**k that. he said tech line told him that my old tranny looked sooo beat up that they wanted to charge him for fixing it the first time..... thats posed to be the REAL reason they dont wanna do it.

If all else fails pay to have it done then take them to small claims court. At that point Mazda will need to involve a lawyer($$$) and a judge is now making the decision as to what should have been covered under warranty not Mazda. I would think you have an even playing field at this point assuming Mazda even wants to take on the expensive of defending them selves.

I tell you it is this type of crap that convinces me this will be the last Mazda I'll ever buy.

I sure hope they have documented all my calls & complaints ( dealer & MNAO ).... I'm on my 3rd dealer so far. From day one none of my problems have been fixed to date. Won't know anything from this dealer until Tuesday. Was towed to dealer yesterday.... dreading to hear what they say, Mada Labor is outrageous.... $85 per hour here.

Yup, I am completely done with this brand.

It's either back to Honda/Acura or over to Mercedes or BMW after this crap.

this is will be the last mazda i buy after im done with the rx8 im going back to BMW those are the best cars if you ask me. My first car was a 98 328i with 150k miles on it only ran it till 190k miles before I had any problems with it and it still was on a $100 fix so it wasnt a big deal. Now with my rx8 I have had a blown engine gone threw 2 clutchs and the car only has 6500 miles on it but yet I never had any problems with a clutch car in my life now this one seems to just keep going. Just have to order a new clutch +flywheel so I can get my car back just another $1200 down the drain just what I wanted to do work overtime

wow, I never had a BMW but my friend's father experience was EXACT opposite of yours.

He got like 2 BMW I forgot it was maybe 5 series from the year 90. It gave him nothing but problems and the car actually died twice in maybe 40K miles. He thought that he just got *bad luck* with a crappy build BMW, so he got another 5 series around Year 2000, and that pos broke week after he got it new from the dealership.

He trade it in with a Lexus couldnt be happier.

All my other friends got nothing but problems with their BMW, so my buddy's father is not alone ...
